Mr. Davenport stated that he strongly believes that the hiring of professional services should
be left up to Council and the professionals that work for the City, but was curious as to whether
the City ever performs any audits of these services to determine cost over-runs and things like
that, and if so, whether residents were allowed to obtain copies of them?

Mayor Welsch suggested that Mr. Davenport email or call the City Manager to find out the
City’s policy and what documents are available. She stated that many documents are
available without the need for a Sunshine request.

Stephan Glickert, 7750 Blackberry
Mr. Glickert stated that he recalls coming before Council five or six years ago on the subject of
snow removal. He stated that during this most recent snow storm what he witnessed is City
vehicles driving around the neighborhood with their snowplows off the ground. Mr. Glickert
stated that he lives on a priority street and the side street next to him is a third-tier street and
yet, he was unable to tell the difference between the two. So his directive to Public Works
would be to put the plow on the ground whenever its trucks are moving around University City.

P.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Mr. Kraft stated that he was glad to see a member of the Glickert family speaking from the
audience this evening, and that he would like to send his best wishes to Elsie Glickert He
stated that it’s really not a Council Session unless a public comment has been made by one
of the Glickerts.

Ms. Carr stated that she had received the Roars and noticed that a candidate had authored
the Councilmember’s Corner. She stated that it has been a tradition that officials and
candidates who are seeking election are not permitted to author this segment and she would
like to make sure that it does not happen again. Ms. Carr stated that she also wanted to
thank Donna Heimos for reminding her that the City should snowplow her street.

Mr. Price asked Mr. Walker how potential candidates would be showcased in Roars. Mr.
Walker stated that his belief is that the filing deadline is the twenty-first of January and at that
point staff will ask all of the candidates to prepare a summary that will be inserted in the
spring issue of Roars, which comes out prior to the election. Mr. Price asked when the spring
issue would be distributed. Mr. Walker stated that he was not sure of the exact date, but that
it would be prior to the election. Mr. Price asked Mr. Walker if he could provide him with a
definitive date at the next meeting to ensure that candidates are provided with an opportunity
to be heard in a timely manner.

Mr. Glickert stated that he would like to thank everyone who visited his mother in rehab. He
stated that the cards, letters, thoughts, prayers and phone calls were much appreciated. Mr.
Glickert stated that his mother was at home and doing very well, so the hope is that she will
be back in attendance in several months.

Mayor Welsch stated that she is hosting her next meeting of University City priests, ministers
and rabbis tomorrow at the Heman Park Community Center, at 1:30. On Wednesday there
would be a meeting of the Economic Development Retail Sales Tax Board, which will also be
held at the Community Center.

Q.
ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Shelley Welsch adjourned the meeting at 8:04 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

14
