and Mr. Walker’s response had been to have the League of Women Voters contact him, which she <br />believes is a violation of the City’s Charter. Ms. Carr stated that the School District has since <br />provided her with a venue and the forum will be held on the first of April. Ms. Carr stated that the <br />League of Women Voters will take over the process after she has mailed out the preliminary letter <br />and she looks forward to seeing everyone there. <br /> <br />Mr. Kraft stated while he thinks that a debate sounds like a good idea, there is a question of <br />neutrality on the part of the individual who is actually organizing the forum. He stated that in his <br />opinion that person should be neutral and whatever Ms. Carr’s energies are, neutrality may not be <br />one of them since she has clearly raised funds for his opponent. Mr. Kraft advised Ms. Carr that <br />st <br />he would not be available to attend the forum on April 1. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow stated that he had participated in the last mayoral debate conducted by the City and if <br />you consider all of the folks who put that debate together to be neutral then he thinks that he and <br />Mr. Kraft may have a totally different definition of neutral. <br /> Mr. Crow stated that his closing comments regard his hope that all of his colleagues, as well as <br />the citizens of University City will keep State Representative Roy Ellinger and his wife Linda in their <br />thoughts and prayers. He stated that Representative Ellinger has been a wonderful civil servant to <br />everyone, going back to the marches with Dr. Martin Luther King; to serving on the School Board <br />for four terms; to being in the Missouri House of Representatives; to being on the Missouri <br />Foundation for Health, and even going back to being the President of the music neighborhood. Mr. <br />Crow stated that he realizes that the decision made by Representative Ellinger was very difficult <br />and that he and Linda will have some challenges as they go forward. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert stated that he appreciated Ms. Carr’s efforts in trying to establish the Women’s Forum, <br />st <br />but for the record, he also would not be available to attend on April 1. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch thanked Mr. Crow for his comments regarding State Representative Rory Elinger. <br />She stated that she was shocked to receive his email and was saddened by the fact that he has to <br />step down. She stated that Representative Ellinger has been a strong advocate for the people of <br />the State of Missouri, especially those who do not hold the greatest power. <br />st <br /> Mayor Welsch announced that April 1 is Trivia Night for the University City Chamber of <br />Commerce. The event will be held at Christ the King School. <br /> Mayor Welsch informed everyone that she has been invited to during a side panel of the United <br />Nation’s fifty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women. She stated that more <br />than one hundred years ago Mr. E. g.
