 <br /> 5 miles of bike trails <br /> <br /> 18 parks <br /> <br /> 35,000 City owned trees <br /> <br />Mr. Wilson stated that 14 miles of private streets are currently being swept as a result of the new <br />street sweeping policy. <br /> <br />PERSONNEL <br />Mr. Wilson stated that no changes have been made in personnel. <br /> <br /> Heavy equipment operators <br />Due to the hiring freeze for the last two years the City has only employed four heavy equipment <br />operators. As a result of their success with four staff members, the fifth position is now being <br />eliminated. <br /> <br /> Part-time personnel <br />The part-time office employee was originally hired in as part of an energy audit which allowed for <br />30 hours per week. Her duties have now been expanded to assist with project management and <br />her hours have been increased. <br /> <br /> Fleet Division <br />A part-time person obtained through one of the City’s youth programs has been hired to clean, file <br />and organize vehicle parts. Previously this work was performed by the mechanics whose salaries <br />range from twenty-five to thirty dollars an hour. <br /> <br />GENERAL REVENUE <br />Public Works manages approximately 12 million dollars of the budget for the City. <br /> <br /> 4.7 million dollars in general revenue <br /> <br /> 5 million dollars in solid waste, sewer lateral and fleet <br /> <br /> 2 million dollars for capital improvement <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATION & ENGINEERING <br />The budget for administration/engineering has decreased by 3 percent. <br /> <br /> Administration manages functions such as HR, approval of purchases/procurement, <br />budgeting, prioritization of work and overall strategic management. <br /> <br /> Engineering encompasses management, design, construction and ensuring that all <br />developments meet the City’s Code. <br /> <br />Engineering Goals <br /> <br /> Continue work with adjacent communities. <br />In 2013 the City worked with Pagedale on a paving project and next year they will be working with <br />Ladue. Clayton has also approached the City about a joint venture. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch asked what street was being considered for the Clayton project. Mr. Wilson stated <br />that it was Linden, which Clayton maintains and of which University City owns a portion. <br /> <br /> <br /> Implement the request tracking module for MyGov. <br /> <br /> Sign replacement and updates. <br /> <br /> Development of an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Transition Plan. <br /> <br /> Design and construct Heman Park improvements. <br /> <br />Significant Changes <br /> <br /> Part-time employment increased by $6,000 due to additional hours required for project <br />management. <br /> <br /> Maintenance contracts increased by $3,000 due to transfer from IT to engineering. <br /> <br />
