 5 miles of bike trails  18 parks  35,000 City owned trees Mr. Wilson stated that 14 miles of private streets are currently being swept as a result of the new street sweeping policy. PERSONNEL Mr. Wilson stated that no changes have been made in personnel.  Heavy equipment operators Due to the hiring freeze for the last two years the City has only employed four heavy equipment operators. As a result of their success with four staff members, the fifth position is now being eliminated.  Part-time personnel The part-time office employee was originally hired in as part of an energy audit which allowed for 30 hours per week. Her duties have now been expanded to assist with project management and her hours have been increased.  Fleet Division A part-time person obtained through one of the City’s youth programs has been hired to clean, file and organize vehicle parts. Previously this work was performed by the mechanics whose salaries range from twenty-five to thirty dollars an hour. GENERAL REVENUE Public Works manages approximately 12 million dollars of the budget for the City.  4.7 million dollars in general revenue  5 million dollars in solid waste, sewer lateral and fleet  2 million dollars for capital improvement ADMINISTRATION & ENGINEERING The budget for administration/engineering has decreased by 3 percent.  Administration manages functions such as HR, approval of purchases/procurement, budgeting, prioritization of work and overall strategic management.  Engineering encompasses management, design, construction and ensuring that all developments meet the City’s Code. Engineering Goals  Continue work with adjacent communities. In 2013 the City worked with Pagedale on a paving project and next year they will be working with Ladue. Clayton has also approached the City about a joint venture. Mayor Welsch asked what street was being considered for the Clayton project. Mr. Wilson stated that it was Linden, which Clayton maintains and of which University City owns a portion.  Implement the request tracking module for MyGov.  Sign replacement and updates.  Development of an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Transition Plan.  Design and construct Heman Park improvements. Significant Changes  Part-time employment increased by $6,000 due to additional hours required for project management.  Maintenance contracts increased by $3,000 due to transfer from IT to engineering.
