Other <br />changes include less for ~, but more for ~,,lti-f~mily rehab in Parkview <br />Gardens and for owner-occupied home rehab loans (including emergencies). He <br />noted that new rules limit the amount that can be s~ent for c~!~-,nity servic- <br />es, i.e., oaLmunity policing and funding for k~]~ shelters and food. <br /> <br />Mr. Mike Giger, 830 Varn~bilt, President of Parkview Gardens Association, <br />spoke in favor of the malti-f~m{]y rehab proven in Parkview Cardens, noting <br />the last few years have been difficult for this area, with many foreclosures <br />and about 30 buildings cu~L~tly v-~cant. He said the Associaticm has devel- <br />oped its own funding and has sponsored about 35 pLU~L--m~ a~igned to improve <br />the neighborhood. Also, a management o-,~eny has been formed that manages 60 <br />units and has purchased three vacant buildings. Snm~_ progress has been made, <br /> <br />Ms. Joan Botwinick, 511 Westview, representir~/u~ts Housing for Missouri- <br />ans, said the group supports what was dc~e last year with CDBG funds for the <br />h~meless--$3000 for food and $13,000 for shelter. She was pleased that some <br />money is being put into hume rehab loans this year. She suc3~es~ that 5% of <br />CDBG funds be put aside for emergency repa~s. She also no~_ a delay of 3- <br /> <br />the City did the inspection, and she thought that could be shortened. <br /> <br />Ms. Shirley Richman, 840 Oeukbrook, thanked the Codicil for the CDBG funds al- <br />lotted to the hcmeless last year, ~4a~ng that the mm~er of hcmeless in the <br />County is ~uwing daily. She asked that the City allocate the same amount as <br />last year for their needs, $3000 for food and $13,000 for tba H~3tel-Motel <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus said she was pleased to see that other manicipalities in St. <br />~ County were now participating in pro~x ~-~ that benefit the heneless. <br /> <br />Mrs. TD~ezel a~L~a that $16,000 should go to the homeless. S~a also felt <br />less should go to Parkview Gardens Police and more to Northeft Area Police. <br /> <br /> <br />
