Bennish Construction Co., Inc. 67,288.50 <br /> Eves Contracting, Inc. 68,893.78 <br /> Engineers' estimate $71,000.00 <br /> f <br /> Funding is from Community Development. It was recommended that the award go <br /> to Williams Concrete Contractors, Inc. for their low bid of $65,602.50. x <br /> Transfer Trailer Repairs (#4) . Kranz Automotive Body Company submitted a bid <br /> of $11,140 to repair the City's transfer trailer (rebuilding or replacing the <br /> sides and roof, reinforcing the frame, and painting) . There are no known mi- <br /> nority or female contractors for this service, and only two local companies <br /> are known to do this type of work. The most recent repairs to the trailer <br /> were done by the second company, and Central Garage personnel felt the repairs <br /> were of unacceptable quality. Therefore, acceptance of the bid of $11,140 C <br /> from Kranz Automotive was recommended. <br /> Mr. Adams moved approval of the Consent Calendar. Mr. Price seconded the mo- <br /> tion, which carried unanimously. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING - OLIVE STREET WEST SPECIAL BUSINESS DISTRICT p <br /> The City Manager said a public hearing was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. this date <br /> to hear comments concerning the proposed establishment of a special business <br /> district in the 8000-8600 blocks of Olive Boulevard. Following the public <br /> hearing, Council may wish to request preparation of a bill which, among other <br /> things, schedules an election on the proposal. <br /> Mayor Majerus opened the public hearing at 7:36 p.m. <br /> Mr. Marlin Klein, 8625 Olive, said he was opposed to a tax increase becauhe <br /> was already paying more taxes than he would in other districts. He suggested <br /> that none of the benefits of the district would apply to Jeffery Plaza, where <br /> his bakery is located, and that other tenants of the Plaza also were opposed <br /> to the special business district. <br /> Richard Stanton, owner of Bubba and Coy's, 8080 Olive, said he was opposed to <br /> the special business district also, based on what he understood from the meet- <br /> ings he attended. There should be more discussion of the cost/benefit ratios <br /> (we of the increased taxes and license fees, and haw the business district, the <br /> City, and the neighborhood will benefit, he said. <br /> Mr. Fred Rudolph, Gramex Corporation (Grandpa's) , 8020 Olive, spoke in favor <br />
