Session 1517, Minutes Page 7 <br /> (me May 7, 1990 <br /> PERSONNEL REPORT <br /> The Personnel report for the week ending May 5, 1990 was received and ordered <br /> filed. <br /> BILIS FOR SECOND AND THIRD READINGS <br /> None. <br /> BILLS FOR INTRODUCTION <br /> BILL NO. 7960 - AMENDING CHAPTER 6 MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO BUILDINGS BY IN- <br /> CREASING CERTAIN FEES APPROVED AT THE APRIL 3, 1990 ELECTION, TO BE EFFECTIVE <br /> FROM AND AFTER MAY 7, 1990. <br /> A bill was introduced by Cbuncilmember Adams, entitled: <br /> "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVER- <br /> SITY CITY RELATING TO BUILDINGS, BY INCREASING CERTAIN FEES APPROVED AT THE <br /> ELECTION HELD APRIL 3, 1990, TO BE EFFECTIVE FRa4 AND AFTER MAY 7, 1990." <br /> The bill was assigned No. 7960 and given its first reading. <br /> BILL NO. 7961 - ESTABLISHING THE UNIVERSITY CI'T'Y OLIVE WEST SPECIAL BUSINESS <br /> DISTRICT, SETTING ITS BOUNDARIES, PROPOSED TAX LEVY, PROPOSED MERCHANTS' LI- <br /> CENSES, BONDING AUTHORITY, USES TO WHICH REVENUE MAY BE PUT, AND CREATING A <br /> UNIVERSITY CITY OLIVE WEST BUSINESS DISTRICT ADVISORY COMMISSION. <br /> A bill was introduced by Cbuncilmember Schomer, entitled: <br /> "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE UNIVERSITY CITY OLIVE WEST SPECIAL BUSINESS <br /> DIS'T'RICT, SETTING ITS BOUNDARIES, PROPOSED INITIAL TAX LEVY, PROPOSED IN- <br /> CREASED MERCHANTS' LICENSES, BONDING AUTHORITY, USES TO WHICH REVENUE MAY BE <br /> PUT, AND CREATING A UNIVERSITY CITY OLIVE WEST SPECIAL BUSINESS DISTRICT ADVI- <br /> SORY COMMISSION." <br /> The bill was assigned No. 7961 and given its first reading. <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> Mayor Majerus called attention to a resolution which expresses the support of <br /> the City Council for the proposed tax levy increase for the University City <br /> Schools. <br /> Mr. Price moved that Council adopt the resolution. Mrs. Thompson seconded the <br /> motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> APPOINTMENTS - BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> Mayor Majerus noted that all of the councilmembers except Mrs. Schuman have <br /> (ime appointments to make to the boards and commissions, and she urged the Council <br /> to try to make their appointments in a more timely manner. She said soave of <br /> the commissions now have several vacancies, which makes it difficult for them <br /> to operate at an optimal level. <br />
