Session 1520, Minutes Page 9 <br /> (me May 21, 1990 <br /> "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBiIISSION TO THE IIri M'1) VC ITERS OF THE CITY <br /> OF UNIVERSITY CITY THE SETTING OF RATE OF TAX 7O BE COLLECTED IN THE CITY OF <br /> UNIVERSITY CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY, SO AS TO ESTABLISH SAID <br /> TAX RATE, THE SAME TO BE SUBMITTED TO SAID ELECTORS AT THE GENERAL ELECTION <br /> AUGUST 7, 1990." <br /> The bill was assigned No. 7964 and given its first reading. <br /> The City Clerk said the Library Director asked her to report that the peti- <br /> tions circulated by the Library in support of the tax increase were signed by <br /> 1,019 residents, or more than 5% of the total vote cast for governor in Uni- <br /> versity City at the last election. <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> Mayor Majerus noted a proclamation on the docket which proclaims the week of <br /> May 20-26, 1990 as National Public Works Week. Mr. Schooner moved approval, <br /> with Mrs. Thompson seconding the motion. All voted Aye. <br /> MISCELLANEOUS <br /> Mr. Price said he was pleased to see that perhaps 65% of the instances where <br /> graffiti was found have been abated, which made it obvious that the recently <br /> passed ordinance was working. <br /> Mrs. Schuman announced that tomorrow night is the Awareness program sponsored <br /> by the Drug-Free Schools and Community Outreach Team, and several families <br /> with chemically dependent children, and other speakers, were taking part. She <br /> urged Council to attend what should be an excellent program. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> Mayor Majerus adjourned the meeting at 8:45 p.m. <br /> c7,1062,24,10, <br /> Dolores A.
