Approval was recommended of the following bid for <br /> a Life Pak 10 Defibrillator/Monitor from Physio Control, the sole source for <br /> Fire Department Life Pak equipment: <br /> Basic equipment with accessories $8,625 <br /> Approximate shipping charge 30 <br /> Total $8,655 <br /> Rand Champion Refuse Container Lids (#9) . Mrs. Thompson asked that this item <br /> be removed from the Consent Calendar for later discussion. It was so ordered. <br /> Tree Removal (#10) . Invitations to bid on the removal of 34 dead or damaged <br /> City trees were received, with the following response: <br /> Gamma Tree Service $ 9,835.00 <br /> Lambur Contracting, Inc. 11,475.00 <br /> Shield Shade Tree Specialists, Inc. 12,270.00 <br /> T & L Tree Service, Inc. 12,980.00 <br /> The Davey Tree Expert Company 14,097.50 <br /> Top Tree Service 14,370.00 <br /> Asplundh Tree Expert Company 16,484.00 <br /> The only known minority or female contractors for this service did not submit <br /> bids. Acceptance of the bid frcan Gamma Tree Service in the amount of $9,835 <br /> was recommended. <br /> Mr. Adams moved approval of the Consent Calendar (minus Items 4 and 9) . Mr. <br /> Wagner seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> Mayor Majerus said the two items that were removed will be discussed at the <br /> end of the regular agenda. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING - TIVOLI BUILDING HISTORIC DESIGNATION <br /> The City Manager said a public hearing was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. this date <br /> to hear comments concerning the proposed designation of the Tivoli building, <br /> 6346-70 Delmar, as a local historic landmark. The designation recommendation <br /> from the Historic Preservation Commission includes regulating the exterior as <br /> well as the theater lobby and auditorium. <br /> Mayor Majerus opened the public hearing at 7:40 p.m. <br /> Mr. Esley Hamilton, 7346 Balson, former Plan Commission chairman and current <br /> Historic Preservation Commission member, referred to a recent memo from the <br /> latter commission to the City Council. He said the group felt the Tivoli was <br /> eligible for designation as a local landmark based on the standards in Univer- <br /> (me sity City's historic preservation ordinance. Although not outstanding archi- <br /> tecturally, as the dominant building in the Loop it is important to the con- <br /> tinuation of the Loop's present character, he said, adding that it is signifi- <br />
