O <br /> <br />SESSIC~ 1599 <br /> <br />MINUr~-~ OF THE UNIV~ITY cl'~'f COUNCIL <br /> <br /> July 26, 1993 <br /> <br />O <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the Coun- <br />cil (barnher of City Hall cn Monday, July 26, 1993, Mayor Janet Majerus pre- <br />sided and called the meeting to Orn~mr at 7:30 p.m. In a~a~ticn to the Mayor, <br />tb~ following me~mbers of the Council were present: <br /> <br />Mr. Byron R. Price, <br />Mr. Joseph L./~41ms, Jr. <br />Mr. Robert G. Wagner <br />Mrs. Mary V. Scb, m~n <br />Mr. PaulE. Schoomer <br /> <br />,Mr. Price arrived at 7:47 p.m. and Mrs. ~hu~ecn arrived at 7:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Also present was Assistant City Manager Kimberley TAua31y. <br />Frank Ollendorff was out of the country. <br /> <br />City Manager <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved approval of the minutes of July 12, 1993, as submitted. Mr. <br />~a~ms seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />OATH OF <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus said she was extremely pleased to administer the oath of office <br />to University City's new police chief, Lee J. Payne. There was a round of <br />applause, with many congratulaticr~ to Chief Payne. C~lmtrlr~r E)~ley of VFW <br />POet 10230 presented a plaque which recognized [b_ief Payne for exceptional <br />service. There was another round of applause. <br /> <br />Chief Payne thanked former Police ~hiefs James Demos and Stanley Topper and <br />the friends and cellgee who have supported_ him over the years. He said he <br />felt very proud and pA,-.~-~d to dO the best job possible. Applause followed. <br /> <br />OATHS OF O~'rlCE <br /> <br />Mr. Ernest Stewart, newly appointe~ to the ~ic~ on Human Relations, and <br />Mr. Fred W. Kirk, reappoin,~a to the Board of Appeals, were given the oath of <br />office by the City Clerk. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus thanked Mr. Stewart and Mr. Kirk for their willingness to serve <br />the City in this way. <br /> <br />,Mrs. Tn~son came in at this time. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus asked the City Clerk to read a proclamation that celebrates the <br /> <br /> <br />
