Session 1587, Minutes <br />March 15, 1993 <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />Mr. Lewis Schiller, 7114 Stanford, Trustee for University Park Subdivision, <br />said residents are very upset about the cc~ditic~ of residential pLuperty op- <br /> <br />ty crimes is directly related to the decrepit state of these b~ldings, which <br />is having a detrimental effect on them and c~ p~-c~erty values. He said resi- <br />dents fully support the City's efforts to enforoe all b~]ding, zoning, occu- <br />pancy, and criminal laws as they affect these rental pLuperties. Mr. Ollen- <br />dorff said t_ha City appreciates this support and agree~ that every effort be <br />m~de to enforce applicable laws. Mr. Price said be r~n~ived many calls about <br />this apartment co~,~ule~f f~uu, users of H~m~n P~rk, and be suggesting that the <br />police be called if large numbers of young people are s~_.n gathering there. <br /> <br />Mr. Herron Rowland, 7155 Tulane, representin~ a group of multi-family pkul~er- <br />ty owners on Tulane and De/h~uuth between Midland and Pennsylvania, said they <br />were dealing with the rmmifications of the deteriorated buildings owned by <br />Ramled Enterprises in their neighborhoed. They have formed a Neighborhood <br />Watch g"roup and routinely patrol the area. He asked that the City step up <br />its police patrols in the area, particularly as spring and sum~ner approach. <br />He felt the situation has in~proved sceewhat, but said the neighborhood is <br />prepared to do whatever is necessary to keep the area safe and secure. <br /> <br />Ms. Eileen Halasey, 7301 Cornell, said she too w-as concerned about the condi- <br />tion of the Ramled p=uperties. Sba gave Oouncil 25 recent photographs illus- <br />trating what she and previous speakers were talking about. Mayor Pro Tern <br />Adams said Council was very Im/ch aware of the properties being discussed. <br /> <br />Mrs. Ramona Sykes, 1464 Sheridan, said the easement between Sheridan and <br />Coolidge that was vacated to adjoining residents was being ruined by utility <br />cc~panies, which have left large ruts and made it difficult for the residents <br />to maintain. Mr. Ollendorff said he will look into it since the utility com- <br />panies are required to restore any damage they do. Mrs. Sykes said liquor <br />was being sold to minors at the 7-11 store at 82nd and Olive, and suggested <br />that everyone buying liquor be carded. She also wan~a a no parkin~ sign in <br />front of the property on Ken]31and at Fullertc~ because a car parked there <br />forces drive to u~uss the bridge in the wrung lane.
