Session 1788 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />July 10, 2000 <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the Council Chambers of <br />City Hall on Monday, July 10, 2000, Mayor Joseph L. Adams called the meeting to order <br />at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following members of the Council were present: <br /> <br />Ms. Cassandra Colquitt <br />Mr. Wayne Munkel <br />Mr. Robert Wagner <br />Mr. Paul Schoomer <br /> <br />Also present was City Manager Frank Ollendorff. EXCUSED: Councilmembers Larry <br />Lieberman and Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br /> <br />MINUTES: <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved the approval of the regular session minutes from June 19, 2000. <br />Ms. Coiquitt seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS AND REAPPOINTMENTS: <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer asked the Council to draw their attention to the results of the employee <br />election for the Police and Fire Retirement Fund Board of Trustees representative in which <br />Captain Don Miner was elected. <br /> <br />Mr. Munkel moved the appointment of Ms. Mary Costantin, 6647 Kingsbury, to the Library <br />Board for a term ending June 30, 2003. Mr. Schoomer seconded the motion, which <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION - SMITH HARDWARE: <br /> <br />Mayor Adams read a proclamation honoring Richard Smith upon his closing of Smith <br />Hardware and his retirement. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams followed the proclamation with reading a commendation of service letter <br />written by the Loop Special Business District honoring Mr. Smith and his many years of <br />service to the community. A round of applause followed. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer stated that for twenty-three years he was in Smith Hardware at least once a <br />day and that it would certainly leave a gap in his life. <br /> <br /> <br />
