Session 1785 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />June3,2000 <br /> <br />At a study session of the City Council of University City held in the Library Board Room of <br />the U. City Public Library Saturday, June 3, 2000, Mayor Joseph L. Adams called the <br />meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following members of the <br />Council were present: <br /> <br />Ms. Cassandra Colquitt <br />Mr. Wayne I. Munkel <br />Mr. Robert Wagner <br />Mr. Larry Lieberman <br />Mr. Paul Schoomer <br />Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br /> <br />Also present was City Manager Frank Ollendorff and Assistant City Manager Gregory Rose. <br /> <br />AGENDA #1 - BANNING SMOKING IN RESTAURANT/BARS: <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman asked to discuss the possibility of requiring all restaurants to be totally <br />smoke free. After discussing this issue at length, it was suggested that a survey aimed at <br />the City's restaurants be asked if they would consider converting to a smoke free <br />environment and what the ramifications would be, if any. Most of Council felt that they <br />were uncomfortable requiring 100% smoke free restaurants without likewise requirements <br />from the County or State, but felt the survey would be informative. <br /> <br />AGENDA #2 - USE OF CITYSCAPE FOR PUBLICATION OF CITIZEN ARTICLES: <br /> <br />After discussion, the sense of Council was to continue with current policy and not allow <br />citizen articles, such as letters to the editor. <br /> <br />AGENDA #3 - COUNCIL TRAVEL POLICY: <br /> <br />The sense of Council was that the 1997 Council Travel policy should be studied and <br />reviewed, with a possible increase in the travel budget to .075% or. 1% of the City budget. <br />The Mayor will appoint 3 Councilmembers to a subcommittee to revisit this policy in a few <br />weeks. <br /> <br /> <br />
