Session 1790
August 7, 2000

Responding to Mr. Schoomer, Mr. Dockett said that the property is owned by two families,
but the sale will probably fall through because of all the liens on the property.
Tom McCormack, 6920 Bartmer, stated that he and his wife are strongly opposed to the
Sonic Restaurant and wishes the Council to deny this conditional use permit.

Lillian Curlett, 6908 Bartmer, stated that she is strongly opposed to the Sonic Restaurant
and wishes the Council to deny this conditional use permit. The trash, noise and traffic is
unbearable from the Jack in the Box and the Schnucks Plaza. The neighborhood has had
enough.

L.P. Johnson, 6904 Bartmer, stated that he is strongly opposed to the Sonic Restaurant
and wishes the Council to deny this conditional use permit.

Kathy Straatmann, 6823 Crest Ave., 2W, is strongly opposed to the Sonic Restaurant and
wishes the Council to deny this conditional use permit.

Grant Shostak, 1060 Wilson, is speaking on behalf of U. City East Politics and Citizen
Action Committee, which is asking for this permit to be denied. He believes that this
development will only attract other fast food restaurants and not office or high end retail.
This is not what we want on Olive Street Road. Most fast food restaurants in this area have
traditionally failed. Other than the noise, traffic and trash, this is just a bad spot to put a
fast food restaurant. It is not realistic that the City can do to much to this business if they
decide not to follow these conditions. The permit should be denied.

Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel is strongly opposed to the Sonic Restaurant. She pointed out
that many restaurants have been built along Olive and many of them have been
abandoned. She feels that the Sonic should go to another location and not at 6901 Olive.

Eric Morff, 144 W. Lockwood, St. Louis 63119, is the representative for the Sonic
Corporation and briefly explained the plan for the new Sonic.

Paul Gordon, 1067 Purcell, is strongly opposed to the Sonic Restaurant and wishes the
Council to deny this conditional use permit.

Lynn Eddington, 6850 Bartmer, is strongly opposed to the Sonic Restaurant and wishes
the Council to deny this conditional use permit.

Russell Frazier, 1091 Purcell, is strongly opposed to the Sonic Restaurant and wishes the
Council to deny this conditional use permit.

8
