HADLEY GRIMM <br /> <br />BILL NO. 6070 .(As .amended) ORDII~ICE NO. 4010 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE DEFINII~G DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES IN PLACES <br />OF PUBLIC ACCOMMODATION; PROHIBITIIqG THE SAI,~; AND PRO- <br />VIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, <br /> <br /> %~tEP~EAS, each member of the City Council recognizes that the government <br />Of the City of University City was organized to protect and promote the health, <br />safety, and welfare of all the residents of the City of University City, including <br />minority groups; and, <br /> <br /> I-~{EREAS, each Councilman was elected by and is undar a duty to represent <br />all groups and segments of his constituency regardless of their race, color, creed, <br />national ancestry, or origin; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, each Councilman is cognizant of his duty to protect and foster <br />the welfare of persons residing in his ward and in the City, and to prevent, inso- <br />far as possible, any discrimination in places of public accommodation due to a <br />person's religious affiliation or lack thereof, and to insure that no person be <br />discriminated against in places of public accommodation by reason of such religious <br />affiliation or lack thereof; and <br /> <br /> I~IHEREAS, each Councilman is cognizant of his duty to protect and foster <br />the welfare of persons residing in his ward and in the City, and to prevent, inso- <br />far as possible, any discrimination in places of public accommodation due to a <br />person's race or color and to insure that no person be discriminated against in <br />places of public accommodation by reason of race or color; and <br /> <br /> UHEREAS, each Councilman is cognizant of his duty to protect and foster <br />the welfare of persons residing in his ward and in the City, and to prevent, inso- <br />far as possible, any discrimination in places of public accommodation due to a <br />person's ancestry or national origin, and to insure that no person be discriminated <br />against in places of public accommodations by reason of ancestry or national <br />origin; and <br /> <br /> I'IHEP~AS, in order to insure that there be no discriminatory practices <br /> <br /> in places of public accommodations against any person by reason of race, color,. <br /> religious affiliations or lack thereof, ancestry or national origin, the City <br /> Council, in order to protect the public welfare, hereby enacts this ordinance. <br /> <br /> <br />
