Session 1791
August 21, 2000

CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS:

AGENDA #1 - CONSENT CALENDAR (7 ITEMS):

#1 - Picnic Wine License - U. City Education Foundation: This organization requests a
license and waiving the filing fee to serve wine at a reception here at City Hall on November
11, 2000. All proceeds support U. City school programs. Similar licenses have been
issued for this location in the past with no negative consequences.

#2 - Annual Order Copier - Cost l~er CoDV ProRram: Mr. Ollendorff recommends exercising
the option to extend subject contract by one year for the period of September 1, 2000 thru
September 1, 2001 to Konica Business Machines. The original proposal consisted of firm
fixed prices for two years and two option years. The costs for three departments (Fire, TVB,
and Library) will be lower in consideration for extending the contract for the option period.
The Departments have been satisfied with the copiers and the maintenance service
provided by Konica Business Machines, Inc. The cost for services for this fiscal year would
be $21,949.12.

Mr. Munkel moved adoption of the consent calendar. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion,
which carried unanimously.

AGENDA #2 - PUBLIC HEARING - TAX RATE:

A public hearing has been advertised for this time and place to hear comments on proposed
University City tax rates for use in property tax billing this Fall. State law requires that City
Council review the rates in light of new assessed valuation totals to ensure that improper
increases are not set forth. The Loop Special Business District tax must be reduced by $.01
since assessed values have gone up substantially. Following the public hearing final action
on tax rates can be taken by ordinance.

Mayor Adams opened the public hearing at 7:37 p.m. Being that there were no requests to
speak, Mayor Adams immediately closed the hearing at 7:37 p.m.

AGENDA ITEM #3 - 2001 COUNCIL MEETING SCHEDULE:

Mr. Ollendorff recommended approval of next year's Council meetings at 7:30 p.m. and
budget studies at 7:00 p.m. as follows:

January 8 & 22
February 12 & 26

July 16
August 6 & 27

2
