SECTION 34-117. <br /> <br />BUILDING PERMITS FOR A HISTORIC LAND- <br />MARK OR WITHIN A HISTORIC DISTRICT <br /> <br />SECTION 34-117.1 BUILDING PERMIT REQUIRED <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful to enlarge, alter or repair any <br />Historic Landmark or to construct, enlarge, alter or <br />repair any building, structure, humanly constructed <br />object, or environmental feature within a Historic <br />District when such activities are regulated by Uni- <br />versity City Zoning Code and Ordinance establishing a <br />specific Historic Landmark or District without first <br />obtaining a Building Permit. <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful to construct a new building or <br />structure in a Historic District or on a lot occupied <br />by a Historic Landmark without first obtaining a <br />Building Permit. <br /> <br />SECTION 34-117.2 REFERRAL TO HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br /> COMMISSION <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator: In examining an application <br />for a Building Permit to which Section 34-117.1 <br />applies, the Zoning Administrator shall determine if <br />the enlargement, alteration, repair and/or construc- <br />tion is deemed to require Commission review in the <br />regulations and standards contained in the Ordinance <br />creating the specific Historic Landmark or Historic <br />District. The Zoning Administrator may, when the <br />Ordinance does not require referral, immediately <br />approve issuance of a Building Permit but shall <br />thereupon notify the Commission of such action. With <br />regard to all other applications for a Building <br />Permit, the Zoning Adminstrator shall forward a copy <br />of the application to the Historic Preservation <br />Commission for interpretation, advice and recommen- <br />dations. All applications for Building Permits <br />pertaining to publicly owned Historic Landmark <br />structures or publicly owned structures within a <br />Historic District shall be referred to the Commission <br />for interpretation, advice and recommendations. <br /> <br />b. Historic Preservation Commission: The Commission <br /> shall review and report on every application for a <br /> Building Permit referred to it by the Zoning Adminis- <br /> trator subject to this section. <br /> <br />SECTION 34-117.3 REVIEW OF BUILDING PERMIT ~LPPLICATION <br /> <br />New Construction at a Historic Landmark or within a <br />Historic District: In reviewing an application for a <br />Building Permit subject to this subsection, no <br />specific architectural style shall be required and a <br />determination shall be made as to whether or not the <br />proposed new construction is compatible with a <br />Historic Landmark or other buildings, structures, <br />humanly constructed objects, or environmental <br />features within the Historic District, and with open <br />spaces to which it may be visually related. This <br />determination shall be made on the basis of standards <br />set forth in the section of the Zoning Code which <br />establishes the Historic Landmark or District. <br /> <br />bg <br /> <br />Enlargements, Alterations or Repairs to tile Existing <br />Structures at an Historic Landmark or Within a <br />Historic District: In reviewing an application for a <br />Building Permit subject to this sub-section, a deter- <br />mination shall be made as to whether or not the <br /> <br /> <br />
