Every person engaged in the business of operating a restaurant or soft drink establishment shall make an annual return in the same manner and pay the same license tax as is provided in Section 19-54 to 19-57 for merchants, except that the minimum license tax per year shall be 35.00 Taxicab Company, per year 350.00 Vending machines, food and merchandise, per year: Machines operating with a nickel 6.00 Machines operating with a dime 12.00 Machines operating for an amount in excess of ten cents, including cigarette machines 17.50 Vending machines, newspapers, per year 6.00 Any person licensed as a restaurant or soft drink establishment for the first time prior to the first of July of any year shall be subject to the minimum charge of 35.00 For any such business license for the first time on July first or thereafter, the minimum charge shall be 17.50 Skating rink, roller or ice, per year 58.00 Section 2. This ordinance shall not be construed so as to relieve any person, firm or corporation from any penalty heretofore incurred by the violation of Section 18-19 nor bar the prosecution for any such violation. Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the pro- visions of this ordinance, shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1, Section 1-8 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City. Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage as provided by law.
