INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER SCHOOMER BILL N0. 7714 ORDINANCE NO. 5510 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY THE SETTING OF A UNIFORM ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE FOR MOTOR VEHICLES, MOTOR- CYCLES, MOTOR TRICYCLES AND COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLES, THE SAME TO BE SUBMITTED TO SAID ELECTORS'AT THE GENERAL ELECTION APRIL 1, 1986. WHEREAS, in view of the fact that the administration and collection of the annual registration fee for motor vehicles, motorcycles, motor tricy- cles and commercial motor vehicles will be simplified for all concerned if the City adopts an annual uniform registration fee for all motor vehicles, motor- cycles, motor tricycles and commercial motor vehicles, the City Council * desires to submit to the electorate the approval of said uniform tax rate as a i substitute for the diverse tax rates based mainly on horsepower in the case of motor vehicles or tonnage in the case of commercial motor vehicles at an election to be held on Tuesday, April 1 , 1986. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVER- SITY CITY, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That an election be and the same is hereby called and ordered to be held in the City of University City, Missouri, on Tuesday, the lst day of April, 1986, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said City the propositions as set forth in the Notice of Election as contained in Section 3 of this ordinance. Section 2. That said election shall be held in all of the voting precincts in the said City as heretofore established by order of the Board of Election Commissioners for St. Louis County, Missouri, and as hereinafter set forth in the Notice of Election as contained in Section 3 of this ordinance. Section 3. That, there being no newspaper of general circulation published in the City of University City, the City Clerk of said City shall be and the said Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to cause to be published in the St. Louis Countian, a newspaper published in the County of St. Louis, wherein said City of University City is located, a notice of said election in substantially the following form, to-wit: NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MISSOURI NOTICE is hereby given that a general election will be held in the City of University City, St. Louis County, Missouri, on Tuesday, the 1st day of April, 1986 for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said City the following proposition: PROPOSITION Shall the City of University City impose a uniform annual Registration Fee for all motor vehicles, motorcycles, motor triycycles, and commercial motor vehicles at $6.50 each?
