,s <br /> INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER LIEBERMAN <br /> BILL NO. 7732 ORDINANCE NO. 5528 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO ZONING, AND <br /> ARTICLE IX, RELATING TO SPECIAL HISTORIC DISTRICTS, AND <br /> ENACTING THEREIN A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION <br /> 34-123. HISTORIC LANDMARK ESTABLISHED"; SO AS TO <br /> ESTABLISH THE SUTTER-MEYER PROPERTY AS AN HISTORIC <br /> LANDMARK. <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 34 of the Municipal Code of the City of University <br /> City (University City Zoning Code) divides the City into several zoning <br /> districts, and regulates the uses to which the premises located therein may <br /> be put; and <br /> WHEREAS,Article IX thereof provides for Special Historic Districts; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission, after a hearing, reviewed <br /> proposed revisions to said Article; and <br /> WHEREAS, due notice of a public hearing to be held by the City <br /> Council in the Council Chamber at City Hall, at 7:30 P.M. on the 8th day of <br /> July, 1985, was duly published in the St. Louis Countian, a newspaper of <br /> general circulation within said City; and <br /> WHEREAS, said public hearing was duly held at the time and place <br /> specified in said notice, and all suggestions or objections concerning said <br /> revisions to said article were duly heard and considered by the council; and <br /> WHEREAS, there are located within the City of University City <br /> buildings of historic significance and areas which represent historic values; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 89, Revised Statutes of Missouri, provides that <br /> the legislative body of a city is empowered for the purpose of promoting the <br /> health, safety, morals, or general welfare of the community to appropriate <br /> funds, promulgate regulations and adopt standards for the preservation of <br /> features of historical significance; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of University City is desirous of preserving <br /> features of historical significance. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: ' <br /> Section 1. Chapter 34 of the Municipal Code of the City of <br /> University City, Missouri, as comprehensively amended October 19, 1970, by <br /> Ordinance No. 4591, is hereby amended by enacting a new Section to be known <br /> as "Section 123. Historic Landmark"; so as to establish Sutter-Meyer <br /> property as an historic landmark, so that said section, as so enacted shall <br /> read as follows: <br />
