•k <br /> materials for a period of one (1) year, commencing on the day of the <br /> acceptance by the City of the completed work, all in accordance with the plans <br /> and specifications on file. <br /> Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to advertise for <br /> sealed bids in a regular weekly newspaper, of general circulation, published <br /> in the County of St. Louis, Missouri, by an insertion to appear at least ten <br /> (10) days prior to the date set for the opening of the bids, which will be <br /> received by him at his office up to ten-thirty (10:30) o'clock (C.D.T.) <br /> Tuesday morning, the day of , 19869 and then to be <br /> opened in the presence of the City Manager, who will award the contract to the <br /> lowest responsible bidder, subject to confirmation by the City Council. The <br /> City reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Each bid must be <br /> accompanied by cashier's or certified check on some bank or trust company in <br /> the County or City of St. Louis, or an acceptable bid bond, payable to the <br /> order of the City of University City, Missouri, in the sum of ONE THOUSAND <br /> SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1,700.00) , as a guarantee that the successful bidder <br /> will, upon award being made, enter into the contract hereinafter provided for. <br /> The checks of the unsuccessful bidders shall be returned to them upon the <br /> rejection of their bids. <br /> Section 4. The successful bidder shall, within ten (10) days after <br /> notification of the award of the contract, file with the City Clerk a contract <br /> duly executed by him and the City, for furnishing the materials, labor and <br /> equipment and doing the work in accordance with the plans and specifications <br /> and, within the same period, said bidder shall file with the City Clerk a good <br /> and sufficient bond in a sum equal to one hundred (100) per cent of the con- <br /> tract price with sureties to be approved by the City Manager, providing that <br /> he will carry out and comply with all of the terms and provisions of said <br /> contract, and will indemnify and hold harmless the said City of any claims <br /> whatsoever for damages arising out of alleged negligence of said contractor, <br /> his subcontractor, agents, servants or employees in connection with the per- <br /> formance of said contract. Upon his compliance with the provisions of this <br /> ordinance, the amount of the deposit which accompanied his original bid shall <br /> be returned to him; but should the said bidder fail to execute said contract <br /> 2 <br />
