<br /> THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY RELATING TO BUILDINGS BY
<br /> REPEALING ARTICLE I THEREOF, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO.
<br /> 5300, ENACTED SEPTEMBER 21, 1981, RELATING TO THE BUILDING
<br /> CODE AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW ARTICLE TO BE
<br /> KNOWN AS "ARTICLE I BUILDING CODE" SO AS TO ADOPT THE BOCA
<br /> BASIC NATIONAL BUILDING CODE, NINTH EDITION, 1984;
<br /> CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
<br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the approval on September 21, 1981, of Ordi-
<br /> nance No. 5300, adopting the "BOCA Basic Building Code, Eighth Edition, 1981"
<br /> as published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators International,
<br /> Inc. , a new edition known as the BOCA Basic National Building Code, Ninth
<br /> Edition, 1984, has been published by said Building Officials and Code Adminis-
<br /> trators International, Inc. , and
<br /> WHEREAS, it is desired to adopt, by reference, "The BOCA Basic
<br /> National Building Code, Ninth Edition, 1984" as published by the Building
<br /> Officials and Code Administrators` International, Inc. , with certain modifi-
<br /> :
<br /> cations hereinafter set forth.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF UNIVERSITY CITY,
<br /> MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
<br /> Section 1. Chapter 6 of the Municipal Code of the City of Univer-
<br /> sity City relating to Buildings is hereby amended by repealing Article I
<br /> thereof, as amended by Ordinance No. 53005 enacted September 215 1981 relating
<br /> to the Building Code and enacting in lieu thereof a new article to be known as
<br /> "Article I Building Code" so as to adopt the BOCA Basic National Building
<br /> Code, Ninth Edition, 1984, relating; to the same subject, and re-enacting said
<br /> article so that said article as so amended, shall read as follows:

<br /> uildind Come of the City of University City, Missouri; hereby for the control
<br /> of buildin- and structures as herein provided; and each and all of the
<br /> regulations penalties, conditions, and terms of the BOCA Basic
<br /> National Building Code, Ninth Edition, 1984 are hereby referred to, adopted
<br /> and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this ordinance, with the addi-
<br /> tions, insertions, deletions and changes prescribed in Section 6-1�1 of this
<br /> Article.
<br /> Section 6-1.1 Additions, Insertions, Deletions and Changes: The following
<br /> numbered subsections of the BOCA Basic National Building Code, Ninth Edition,
<br /> 1984, are amended by additions, insertions, deletions and changes, including
<br /> the changing of subsection titles and the addition of new subsections so that
<br /> such amended and added subsections read as follows:
<br /> ADMINISTRATION AND ENFORCEMENT
<br /> SECTION 100.0 SCOPE
<br /> 100.1 Title: These regulations shall be known as the Building Code of the
<br /> City of University City, Missouri, hereinafter referred to as "this code
<br /> The terms: "name of jurisdiction" or "local jurisdiction" wherever employed
<br /> herein shall be construed to mean the City of University City, Missouri.
<br /> 101.3 Determination of Essential Requirements: Any requirement relative to
<br /> the manner of construction or material to be used in the erection, addition,
<br /> alteration, repair, removal, demolition, installation of service equipment and
<br /> the location, use, occupancy or maintenance of all structures, which is
<br /> essential to insure public safety, health or welfare, and which is not speci-
<br /> fically covered by the provisions of this code, shall be as determined by the
<br /> building official, on the basis of the legislated intent of this code as set
<br /> forth in Section 100.0 and the provisions of this code for similar or related
<br /> matters.
