In the event of death of <br />such former member after termination of employment and <br />prior to receiving their accumulated contributions, their <br />accumulated contributions shall be paid to their desig- <br />nated beneficiary. <br /> <br /> (5) If there are no further benefits otherwise payable <br />under this section and the total amount of benefits <br />received by a member, retirant, or beneficiary up to the <br />date of the death of the last survivor is less than an <br />amount equal to the member's accumulated contributions at <br />their death or at their retirement date, whichever occurs <br />first, the difference shall be Paid to the beneficiary <br />namE,d to receive such amount, or if no such beneficiary <br />is Living, to the estate of the person last receiving <br />benefits, or, if no benefits have been received, to the <br />estate of the member. <br /> <br />Section 2.
