<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6 OF THE MDNICIPAL
<br />CODE OF TEE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY RELATING TO
<br />BUILDINGS BY REPEALING ARTICLE I THEREOF, AS
<br />AMENDED, RELATING TO THE BUILDING CODE AND ENACTING
<br />IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW ARTICLE TO BE KNOWN AS
<br />"ARTICLE I BUILDING CODE" SO AS TO ADOPT THE BOCA
<br />NATIONAL BUILDING CODE, ELEVENTH EDITION, 1990;
<br />CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.

<br />W~HEREAS, subsequent to the approval on November 23, 1987, of
<br />Ordinance No. 5627, adopting the "BOCA National Building Code,
<br />Tenth Edition, 1987" as published by the Building Officials and
<br />Code Administrators International, Inc., a new edttion knownas the
<br />BOCA National Building Code, Eleventh Edition, 1990, has been
<br />published by said Building Officials and Code Administrators
<br />International, Inc., and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, it is desired to adopt, by reference, "The BOCA National
<br />Building Code Eleventh Edition, 1990" as published by the Building
<br />Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., with certain
<br />modifications hereinafter set forth.
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF UNIVERSITY CITY,
<br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br />Section 1. Chapter 6 of the Municipal Code of the City of
<br />University City relating to Buildings is hereby amended by
<br />repealing Article I thereof, as adopted by Ordinance No. 5627,
<br />enacted November 23, 1987, and amended by Ordinance No. 5666,
<br />enacted June 20, 1988, and Ordinance No. 5703, enacted March 13,
<br />1989, relating to the Building Code and enacting in lieu thereof a
<br />new article to be known as "Article I Building Code" so as to adopt
<br />the BOCA National Building Code, Eleventh Edition, 1990, relating
<br />to the same subject, and re-enacting said article so that said
<br />article as so amended, shall read as follows:

<br />ARTICLE I BUILDING CODE
<br />
<br />Section 6-1 Adoption: The BOCA National Building Code, Eleventh
<br />Edition, 1990, as published by the Building Officials and Code
<br />Administrators International, Inc., three copies of which are on
<br />file in the office of the City Clerk and a copy of which is
<br />attached hereto, be and is adopted as the Building Code of the City
<br />of University City, Missouri, for the control of buildings and
<br />structures as herein provided; and each and all of the regulations,
<br />provisions, penalties, conditions, and terms of the BOCA National
<br />Building Code, Eleventh Edition, 1990 are hereby referred to,
<br />adopted and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this
<br />ordinance, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes
<br />prescribed in Section 6-1.1 of this Article.
