INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER SCHUMAN <br /> <br />BILL NO. 8045 (as amended) <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5835 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE MUNICIPAL <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY RELATING TO MOTOR <br />VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC BY AMENDING SECTION 21-6.2 OF <br />SAID MUNICIPAL CODE ENACTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 5756 <br />PASSED JUNE 18, 1990 PROVIDING FOR A RESIDENTIAL PARK- <br />ING PERMIT PLAN BUT EXCLUDING THE TIME LIMITATION OF <br />SUBSECTION (13) OF ORDINANCE NO. 5756. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ordinance number 5756 provides for residential <br />parking permit plans meeting special requirements, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, subsection 13 of Section 1 of Ordinance 5756 <br />specifically p~e~ides ~hat the s~id "ordinance sh~tLbe in <br />force for an experimental period of one year from the date of <br />its passage (June 18, 1990) unless the City Council takes <br />action to extend it", and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said Ordinance 5756 has been operating <br />successfully for the experimental period and the City Council <br />finds it in the public interest that said ordinance should <br />continue tc be in force. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 21 of the Municipal Code of <br />University City relating to motor vehicles and traffic is <br />hereby amended by adding a new subsection to be designated <br />Section21-6.2. Residential Parkin~Permi~ Plan, as follows: <br /> <br />(1) Parking on public streets <br />neighborhoods may be restricted to <br />specified block of a street if <br />conditions are met: <br /> <br /> within residential <br />the residents along a <br />all of the following <br /> <br /> a. The residential block contains a traffic ingress <br />and/or egress to or from a commercial area comprising <br />multiple retail businesses; <br /> <br /> b. The daily traffic count exceeds 2,500 cars on any <br />part of the block containing the traffic ingress and/or <br />egress referred to in <a) immediately above and; <br /> <br /> c. The problems caused by non-resident parking on the <br />block referred to in (a) are chronic and well-documented. <br /> <br />(2) Residential permit parking areas must be initiated by <br />petition.
