BILL NO. 8047 <br /> <br />INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />5836 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF THE MUNICIPAL <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO <br />GARBAGE, REFUSE AND WEEDS BY REPEALING SECTION <br />14-12 THEREOF, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 5823, <br />ENACTED AUGUST 19, 1991, AND ENACTING IN LIEU <br />THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION <br />14-12. LOCATION OF REFUSE CONTAINERS." SO AS TO <br />PROVIDE THAT REFUSE SHALL NOT BE PLACED OUT FOR <br />COLLECTION EARLIER THAN 4 P.M. OF THE DAY BEFORE <br />THE DAY OF THE SCHEDULED COLLECTION; CONTAINING A <br />SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY <br />CITY, MISSOURI, ~FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Sectionl. Chapter 14 of the Municipal Code of the City <br />of University City, relating to garbage, refuse and weeds is <br />hereby amended by repealing Section 14-12 thereof, as amended <br />by Ordinance No. 5823, enacted August 19, 1991, by amending <br />"Section 14-12. Location of refuse containers." so as to <br />provide that refuse shall not be placed out for collection <br />earlier than 4 p.m. of the day of the scheduled collection; <br />relating to the same subject, and re-enacting said section so <br />that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 14-12. Location Qf refuse containers. <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Collection from the street. If the refuse <br />collection vehicle makes the collection of <br />refuse from the street, roll-out plastic carts, <br />disposable containers and bundled brush and tree <br />trimmings, shall be placed by the resident near <br />the back of the curb or edge of the roadway but <br />not in the street. Refuse shall not be placed <br />out for collection earlier than 4 p.m. of the <br />day before the day of the scheduled collection. <br />The responsible pen-t~ for an accumulation of - <br />refuse shall be the occupant or occupants of <br />a one dwelling unit building or the owner of <br />a building housing two or more residential or <br />one or more commercial units. Exemptions to <br />the curb line placement of disposable contain- <br />ers may be made by the Director of Public <br />Works if, for valid physical reasons, no <br />member of the household can be expected to <br />carry the containers to the curb line. In <br />these instances, the location of the disposable <br />containers for collection shall be at the <br />direction of the Director of Public Works. <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
