<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
<br />CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY RELATING TO BUILDINGS BY REPEALING
<br />ARTICLE I THEREOF, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE BUILDING CODE
<br />AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW ARTICLE TO BE KNOWN AS
<br />"ARTICLE I BUILDING CODE" SO AS TO ADOPT THE BOCA NATIONAL
<br />BUILDING CODE, TWELFTH EDITION, 1993; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE
<br />AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the approval on April 1, 1991, of Ordinance No. 5791,
<br />adopting the "BOCA National Building Code, Eleventh Edition, 1990" as published by the
<br />Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., a new edition known as the
<br />BOCA National Building Code, Twelfth Edition, 1993, has been published by said Building
<br />Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, it is desired to adopt, by reference, "The BOCA National Building Code
<br />Twelfth Edition, 1993" as published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators
<br />International, Inc., with certain modifications hereinafter set forth.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF UNIVERSITY
<br />CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. Chapter 6 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City relating to
<br />Buildings is hereby amended by repealing Article I thereof, as adopted by Ordinance No. 5791,
<br />enacted April 1, 1991, relating to the Building Code and enacting in lieu thereof a new article
<br />to be known as "Article I Building Code" so as to adopt the BOCA National Building Code,
<br />Twelfth Edition, 1993, relating to the same subject, and re-enacting said article so that said
<br />article as so amended, shall read as follows:

<br />ARTICLE I. BUILDING CODE
<br />
<br />Section 6-1 Adoption: The BOCA National Building Code, Twelfth Edition, 1993, as
<br />published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., three
<br />copies of which are on file in the office of the City Clerk and a copy of which is attached
<br />hereto, be and is adopted as the Building Code of the City of University City, Missouri,
<br />for the control of buildings and structures as herein provided; and each and all of the
<br />regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions, and terms of the BOCA National Building
<br />Code, Twelfth Edition, 1993 are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof, as
<br />if fully set out in this ordinance, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes
<br />prescribed in Section 6-1.1 of this Article.
