BILL NO. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER SCHOOMER 8214 ORDINANCE NO. 5999 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION OF A PROPOSITION AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN RECYCLABLE AND REFUSE COLLECTION MONTHLY CHARGES TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON APRIL 4, 1995. WHEREAS, in view oT the substantial rise in cost of recyclable and refuse collection service and a need for expanded recyclable collection service, the City Council desires to increase recyclable and refuse collection charges for service to be provided by the City of University City, and to submit to the electorate a proposition authorizing an increase in said refuse collection charges at the general municipal election to be held on Tuesday, April 4, 1995. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS= Section 1. That an election is hereby called and ordered to be held In the City of University City, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 4, 1995, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of the City of University City the proposition as set forth in the Notice of Election in Section 3 of this ordinance. Section 2. That said election shall be held in all of the voting precincts in the City of University City as heretofore established by order of the Board of Election Commissioners for St. Louis County Missouri, and as hereinafter set forth In the Notice of Election as contained in Section 3 of this ordinance. Section 3. That, there being no newspaper of general circulation published in the City of University City, the City Clerk of the City of University City is hereby authorized and directed to cause to be published in the St. Louis Countlan, a newspaper published in St. Louis County, wherein the City of University City is located, a notice of said election in substantially the ~ollowing form, to-wit: NOTICE OF ELECTION CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MISSOURI NOTICE is hereby given that an election will be held in the City of University City, St. Louis County, Missouri, on Tuesday, the April 4, 1995, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of the City of University City the following proposition= PROPOSITION R Shall the City of University City be authorized to increase the recyclable and refuse collection monthly charges in order to provide expanded recyclable collection service and to maintain the current level of refuse collection service, assessed and billed from and after September 1, 1995, in accordance with the following schedule?
