0 <br /> <br />employees who sustained injuries or death while in the <br />discharge of their duties. <br /> <br />To an employee retired after January 1, 1993, on account of age, <br />length of service and length of time in this fund, as set fodh in section <br />25-14(e), a monthly benefit according to the following: <br /> <br /> Years Membership <br />Years of Service In Fund <br /> <br />Percentage of <br />Base Monthly Salary <br /> <br />25 25 65 <br />26 26 66 <br />27 27 67 <br />28 28 68 <br />29 29 69 <br />30 or more 30 or more 70 <br /> <br />(o) <br /> <br />There shall be paid upon the death of any active employee a <br />funeral benefit in the sum equal to one month's base salary <br />then in effect. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />There shall be paid upon the death of an employee retired <br />under section 25-14 (a), 25-14(b), 25-14(c), 25-14(e), 25-15 or 25- <br />16 a funeral benefit in the sum equal to one month's base <br />salary in effect at the date the employee retired. <br /> <br />There shall be paid upon the death of any employee retired under <br />section 25-14(a), 25-14(e) or section 25-15 or upon service-connected <br />death as provided in section 25-15, the following: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />To the employee's surviving spouse, provided such employee <br />shall have been married to said surviving spouse prior to the <br />employee's injury under section 25-15 for three (3) years or more <br />prior to the employee's retirement under section 25-14(a) or 25- <br />14(e) a monthly benefit of twenty-five percent (25%) of the <br />monthly base salary in effect at the date of the employee's <br />retirement or at the employee's death until the death or <br />remarriage of such surviving spouse. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />To the lawful guardian of such employee's surviving minor <br />unmarried child or children under the age of eighteen (18) <br />years, provided such child or children shall have been born <br />within ten (10) months after the employee's retirement or the <br />employee's death in service, a monthly benefit of ten percent <br /> <br /> <br />
