<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
<br />THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY RELATING TO BUILDINGS BY
<br />REPEALING ARTICLES I, lI AND SECTIONS 6-30 AND 6-30.1 THEREOF, AS
<br />AMENDED, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW ARTICLE TO BE
<br />KNOWN AS "ARTICLE I BUILDING CODE" SO AS TO ADOPT THE BOCA
<br />NATIONAL BUII'.DING CODE, THIRTEENTH EDITION, 1996; CONTAINING
<br />A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the approval on May 2, 1994, of Ordinance No. 5965, adopting
<br />the "BOCA National Building Code, Twelfth Edition, 1993" as published by the Building Officials
<br />and Code Administrators International, Inc., a new edition known as the BOCA National Building
<br />Code, Thirteenth Edition, 1996, has been published by said Building Officials and Code
<br />Administrators International, Inc., and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the approval on May 2, 1994, of Ordinance No. 5966, adopting
<br />the "BOCA National Mechanical Code, Eighth Edition, 1993" as published by the Building Officials
<br />and Code Administrators International, Inc., a new code known as the International Mechanical
<br />Code, 1996 Edition, published by the International Code Council, Inc., is referenced in the BOCA
<br />National Building Code, Thirteenth Edition, 1996, for the control of construction, inspection, and
<br />maintenance of all mechanical equipment and systems, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the approval on May 2, 1994, of Ordinance No. 5967, adopting
<br />the "BOCA National Plumbing Code, Ninth Edition, 1993" as published by the Building Officials and
<br />Code Administrators International, Inc., a new code known as the International Plumbing Code, 1995
<br />Edition, published by the International Code Council, Inc., is referenced in the BOCA National
<br />Building Code, Thirteenth Edition, 1996, for the design and installation of plumbing systems, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, it is desired to adopt, by reference, "The BOCA National Building Code
<br />Thirteenth Edition, 1996" as published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators
<br />International, Inc., with certain modifications hereinafter set forth.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TI-IE COUNCIL OF UNIVERSITY CITY,
<br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. Chapter 6 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City relating to
<br />Buildings is hereby amended by repealing Article I thereof, as adopted by Ordinance No. 5965,
<br />enacted May 2, 1994, relating to the Building Code, repealing Article II thereof, as adopted by
<br />Ordinance No. 5966, enacted May 2, 1994, relating to the Mechanical Code, and by repealing
<br />Sections 6-30 and 6-30.1 of Article III thereof, as adopted by Ordinance No. 5967, enacted May 2,
<br />1994, relating to the Plumbing Code, and enacting in lieu thereof a new article to be known as
<br />"Article I Building Code" so as to adopt the BOCA National Building Code, Thirteenth Edition, 1996,
<br />relating to the same subjects, and re-enacting Article I so that said article as so amended, shall read
<br />as follows:
