( CHAPTER 17 STRUCTURAL TESTS AND INSPECTIONS ) <br /> <br /> (SECTION 1705.0 SPECIAL INSPECTIONS) <br />1705.1 General: The permit applicant shall provide special inspections where application is <br />made for construction as described in this section. The special inspectors shall be provided by <br />the permit applicant and shall be qualified and approved for the inspection of the work described <br />herein. <br /> <br />Exceptions <br /> 1. Special inspections are not required for work of a minor nature or where warranted <br /> by conditions in the jurisdiction. <br /> 2. Special inspections are not required for building components unless the design <br /> involves construction documents prepared by a registered design professional per <br /> Section 114.1. <br /> 3. Special inspections are not required for buildings of the R-3 Use Group that do not <br /> involve unusual soil conditions or unusual structural design. <br /> <br />( CHAPTER 18 FOUNDATIONS AND RETAINING WALLS ) <br /> <br /> (SECTION 1806.0 DEPTH OF FOOTINGS) <br />1806.1.1 Frost line: The frost line is established at 30 inches below finished grade. <br /> <br /> (SECTION 1813.0 WATERPROOFING AND DAMPPROOFING) <br />1813.3 Dampproofing required: Where hydrostatic pressure will not occur as determined by <br />Section 1813.2, floors and walls for other than wood foundation systems and unheated garages <br />shall be dampproofed in accordance with this section. Wood foundation systems shall be <br />constructed in accordance with AFPA TR7 listed in Chapter 35. <br /> <br /> ( CHAPTER 21 MASONRY ) <br /> (SECTION 2113.0 MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS) <br />2112.3 Support on Wood: Masonry shall not be supported on wood girders or other form of <br />wood construction. <br /> Exceptions: <br /> 1. Glass-block panels complying with Section 2118.0 <br /> 2. Ornamental fireplace and hearth facings. <br /> <br />( CHAPTER 27 ELECTRIC WIRING, EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS ) <br /> <br /> (SECTION 2701.0 GENERAL) <br />2701.1 Scope: The provisions of this chapter shall control the design and construction of all <br />new installations of electrical conductors, equipment and systems in buildings and structures: <br />and all alterations to existing wiring systems therein to ensure safety. All such installations <br />shall conform to the provisions of NFPA 70 listed in Chapter 35 except that the use of types NM <br />and NMC cables shall not be restricted by limitations of the building height or type of <br />construction.' <br /> <br /> (SECTION 2703.0 PERMIT AND CERTIFICATE OF INSPECTION) <br />2703.5 Homeowner permits: Subject to all provisions of sections 2703.5.1 through 2703.5.6, <br />a permit shall be issued to the owner or to a member of the owner's immediate family for the <br />repair or modification (including the installation of additional fixtures, outlets and circuits) of an <br />existing electrical system on the premises of a detached one-family dwelling including accessory <br />structures. <br /> <br />2703.5.1 The dwelling shall be designed and used solely for living purposes. <br /> <br />2703.5.2 The dwelling shall be occupied by the permittee. <br /> <br />-13- <br /> <br /> <br />
