<br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 17 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
<br />CITY OF UNIVERSrFY CITY, MISSOURI, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO
<br />MINIMUM STANDARDS GOVERNING THE CONDITIONS AND MAINTENANCE
<br />OF ALL EXISTING SYRUCTURES, PREMISES AND EXTERIOR PROPERTY, AND
<br />ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW CHAPTER WHICH IS TO BE KNOWN AS
<br />"CHAPTER 17, PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE" SO AS TO ADOPT THE BOCA
<br />NATIONAL PKOPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE, FIFTH EDITION, 1996;
<br />CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.

<br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the approval on May 2, 1994 of Ordinance No. 5968, adopting
<br />by reference with certain modifications the BOCA National Property Maintenance Code, Fourth
<br />Edition, 1993, published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., a new
<br />edition known as the BOCA National Property Maintenance Code, Fifth Edition, 1996 has been
<br />published by said Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, it is desired to adopt by reference, "The BOCA National Property Maintenance
<br />Code, Fifth Edition, 1996" as published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators
<br />International, Inc. with certain modifications as hereinafter set forth,
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFOr, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF UNIVERSITY CITY,
<br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. Chapter 30 of the Municipal Code of University City relating to swimming pools
<br />is hereby amended by repealing Article I thereof, and Chapter 17 of the Municipal Code of University
<br />City relating to the Property Maintenance Code and Ordinance Number 5968 is hereby repealed and
<br />a new chapter to be known as "Chapter 17, Property Maintenance Code" is hereby enacted in lieu
<br />thereof, so as to adopt the BOCA National Property Maintenance Code, Fifth Edition, 1996, relating
<br />to the same subject and reenacting said Chapter so that said Chapter as so enacted shall read as
<br />follows:

<br />$ec 17-1. ADOPTION
<br />The BOCA National Property Maintenance Code, Fifth Edition, 1996, as published by the
<br />Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., three copies of which are on
<br />file in the office of the City Clerk and a copy of which is attached hereto, be and is adopted
<br />as the Property Maintenance Code of the City of University City, Missouri for the control
<br />of existing structures, premises and extedor property as herein provided, and all of the
<br />regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of the BOCA National Property
<br />Maintenance Code, Fifth Edition, 1996 are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part
<br />hereof, as if fully set out in this ordinance with the amendments, additions, insertions, and
<br />deletions prescribed in Sections 17-2 of this Chapter.
