CHAPTER 618, SLCRO 1974 AS AMENDED <br />"THE WEIGHTS AND MEASURES CODE" <br /> <br />Rev1987~~'x <br /> <br />618.010 <br /> <br />Definitions. When used in this chapter: <br /> <br />(1) "County" unless otherwise specified, shall mean that part of St. Louis County outside of <br />incorporated cities and towns and villages. <br /> <br />2) The word "person" shall be construed to import both the singular and the plural as the case <br />demands, and shall include individuals, partnerships, corporations, companies, societies and <br />associations. <br /> <br />(3) The word "weight(s) and (or) measure(s)" shall be construed to import all weights and <br />measures of every kind, instruments, and devices for weighing and measuring, and any appliances and <br />accessories associated with any or all such instruments and devices. <br /> <br />(4) The works "sell" and "sale" shall be construed to mean barter and exchange. <br /> <br />(5) The tern~ "Supervisor" and "chef Inspector" shall be construed to mean the St. Louis County <br />Supervisor of Weights and Measures and the St. Louis County Chief Inspector of Weights and <br />Measures, respectively. <br /> <br />(6) The term "Inspector" shall be construed to mean a St. Louis County Inspector of Weights and <br />Measures. <br /> <br />(7) The word "commodity" shall be construed to mean any raw material, manufactured products, <br />food stuffs, live stock or any other substance either solid or liquid. <br /> <br />(8) The words "solid fuel" shall be construed to import any anthracite, semianthracite or lignite <br />coal, briquettes, boulets, code, petroleum coke, carbonized coal petroleum carbon on any other <br />mined, manufactured, processed or patented fuel not sold by liquid or metered measure. <br /> <br />(9) The word "vehicle" shall be construed to import any wagon, cart, truck, machine, tractor, <br />trailer, semitrailer or automobile. <br /> <br />618.020 <br /> <br />Systems of Weights and Measures. <br /> <br /> The system of weights and measures in customary use in the United States and the metric system of <br />weights are jointly recognized, and one or the other of these systems shall be used for all commercial <br />purposes in the County.
