Rev. 1987 <br /> <br />618.060 <br /> <br />Duties and Qualifications of the Supervisor. <br /> <br /> The Supervisor of Weights and Measures shall be at least thirty (30) years of age, a resident of St. <br />Louis County, Missouri, and shall be familiar with the laws and regulations of the State of Missouri pertaining <br />to weights and measures. The Supervisor shall carry proper credentials of his office and the Chief Inspector <br />and all inspectors shall also carry credentials which shall be displayed in each and every case where an inspec- <br />tion is being made under the terms and provisions of this ordinance. Upon exhibition of said credentials, the <br />Supervisor, Chief Inspector or inspectors shall have the right of entry during usual business hours to inspect <br />all weights and measures and commodities in accordance with their duties as prescribed by this ordinance. <br />The Supervisor of Weights and Measures shall have and be charged with the custody of all County standards <br />of weights and measures and of the other standards and equipment provided for the office of weights and <br />measures and shall keep accurate records of the same. The Supervisor, the Chief Inspector and inspectors <br />shall enforce the provisions of this ordinance. The Supervisor shall have and keep a general supervision over <br />the weights and measures offered for sale, sold or in use in the County. He shall annually make to the County <br />Council, the County Executive and the Director of Public Works, a report on all the activities of his office. <br />The Supervisor shall also be charged with all other duties as may be provided by law. <br /> <br />618.070 <br /> <br />Specifications, Tolerances and Regulations for Commercial Weighing and Measuring <br />Devices. <br /> <br /> The specifications, tolerances and regulations for commercial weighing and measuring devices, <br />together with amendments thereto, as recommended by the National Bureau of Standards, and published in <br />the National Bureau of Standards Handbook 44 and supplements thereto, or in any publication revising or <br />superseding the Handbook 44, shall be the specifications, tolerances and regulation for commercial weighing <br />and measuring devices of the County, except insofar as specifically modified, amended or rejected by action <br />of the County Council. For the purpose of this ordinance, apparatus shall be deemed to be "correct" when <br />it conforms to all such applicable specifications, tolerances and regulations; other apparatus shall be deemed <br />to be "incorrect." <br /> <br />618.080 <br /> <br />General Testing. <br /> <br />(1) The Supervisor, Chief Inspector, and the Inspectors shall have the power to inspect and to <br />test for accuracy all weights and measures used or possessed for current use in the buying, selling, <br />or leasing or any commodity or thing, or in the computation of any basis of weight or of measure. <br /> <br />(2) It shall be the duty of the Supervisor at least semiannually and as more often as he may deem <br />necessary, to inspect and to test for accuracy all weights and measures commercially used (a) in <br />determining the weight, measure, charge, or count of commodities or things sold or offered or <br />exposed for sale, or leased, on the basis of weight or of measure, (b) in computing the basic charge <br />for services rendered on the basis of weight or of measure, or (c) in determining the weight or <br />measure when a charge is made for such determination; provided, that with respect to single-service <br />devices designated to be used commercially only once and then to be discarded, and with respect to <br /> <br />WTAO(Rev)-3 <br /> <br /> <br />
