BILL NO ~~'"' <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. ¢~0~ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.62 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO POLICE AND FIREFIGHTER'S <br />RETIREMENT SYSTEM, BY REPEALING SECTION 2.62.080 THEREOF, <br />RELATING TO ELIGIBILITY FOR RETIREMENT BY REASON OF AGE, AND <br />SECTION 2.62.150 THEREOF, RELATING TO RETIREMENT BENEFITS <br />GENERALLY-SCHEDULE, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF NEW <br />SECTIONS TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 2.62.080 ELIGIBILITY FOR <br />RETIREMENT BY AGE" AND "SECTION 2.62.150 RETIREMENT BENEFITS <br />GENERALI',Y-SCHEDULE," THEREBY AMENDING SAID SECTIONS SO AS <br />TO ESTABLISH THAT EMPLOYEES OF THE POLICE AND FIRE <br />DEPARTMENTS MAY RETIRE WITH BENEFITS AT AGE FIFTY (50) IF THEY <br />HAVE AT LEAST TWENTY (20) YEARS OF SERVICE, AND SO AS TO <br />CHANGE THE BENEFITS PAYABLE UPON THE DEATH OF CERTAIN <br />EMPLOYEES OF SAID DEPARTMENTS. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 2.62 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to police and <br />firefighter's retirement system, is hereby amended by repealing Section 2.62.080 thereof, relating <br />to eligibility for retirement by reason of age, and Section 2.62.150 thereof, relating to retirement <br />benefits generally-schedule, and enacting in lieu thereof new sections to be known as "Section <br />2.62.080 Eligibility for retirement by age" and "Section 2.62.150 Retirement benefits generally- <br />Schedule;" so that said sections, as so amended, shall read as follow: <br /> <br />2.62.080 Eligibility for retirement by reason of age. <br /> <br />Upon application of an employee who has attained the age of fifty (50) and has at <br />least twenty (20) years of service, the employee shall be retired and shall be eligible <br />for either of the benefits prescribed by this chapter for such person. <br /> <br />Any employee having ten years or more of service in either the fire department or the <br />police department, or a combination of service in both departments, who <br />subsequently leaves the service and does not withdraw his or her contributions to the <br />fund, shall be eligible for the deferred retirement benefits hereinafter described. <br /> <br />In addition to the early and normal retirement provision in the municipal code, a <br />member of the uniformed fund may retire after attaining the age of fifty (50) years <br />and after completion of twenty-five (25) years' membership in the uniformed fund. <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
