(SECTION PM-706.0 ELEVATOR RECALL) <br /> <br />PM-706.1 Required: All elevators having a travel distance of 25 feet (7620 mm) or more <br />above or below the primary level of elevator access for emergency fire-fighting or rescue <br />personnel shall conform to the requirements of the Safety Rules for Elevators and Escalators. <br /> <br />(SECTION PM-707.0 MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT CONTROL) <br /> <br />PM-707.1 Smoke and heat detection: Approved smoke or heat detectors shall be installed <br />in return air ducts or plenums in each recirculating air system with a capacity of more than <br />2,000 erin (0.94 m3/sec) and serving more than one floor in buildings that exceed six (6) <br />stories in height in accordance with the mechanical code adopted by the City of University <br />City. Actuation of the detector shall stop the fan(s) automatically and shall be on the <br />manual-reset type. Automatic fan shutdown is not required where the system is part of an <br />approved smoke control system. <br /> <br />(SECTION PM-708.0 SHAFT ENCLOSURES) <br /> <br />PM-708.1 General: All floor openings connecting two or more stories shall be protected by <br />shaft enclosures as required by Section PM-708.2. <br /> <br />Exceptions: <br /> <br />Floor openings exempted by the provisions of the building code adopted by <br />the City of Uuiversity City. <br />In buildings of Use Group B, stairs connecting not more than two stories with <br />less than 3,500 square feet of floor area per story. <br />In buildings of Use Group B, stairs connecting not more than three stories <br />provided the building is equipped throughout with an approved automatic <br />sprinkler system. <br />In buildings of Use Group E and R-l, stairs connecting not more than two <br />stories provided the building is equipped throughout with an approved <br />automatic sprinkler system. <br />In buildings of Use Groups F and S, stairs connecting not more than two <br />stories. <br />In buildings of Use Group F and S, stairs connecting not more than three <br />stories provided the building is equipped throughout with an approved <br />automatic fire suppression system. <br />In buildings of Use Group M, stairs connecting not more than two stories <br />with less than 2,000 square feet of floor area per story, or when connecting <br />not more than two stories provided the building is equipped throughout with <br />an approved automatic sprinkler system. <br />In buildings of Use Group R-2, stairs connecting not more than two stories <br />with not more than four dwelling units per story. <br /> <br />31 <br /> <br /> <br />
