<br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 15.04 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY
<br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO THE BUILDING CODE, AND ENACTING
<br />IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW CHAPTER TO BE KNOWN AS "CHAPTER 15.04
<br />BUILDING CODE," SO AS TO ADOPT THE BOCA NATIONAL BUILDING
<br />CODE, FOURTEENTH EDITION, 1999; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE
<br />AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the approval on July 7, 1997 of Ordinance No. 6112 adopting the
<br />BOCA National Building Code, Thirteenth Edition, 1996, as published by the Building Officials and
<br />Code Administrators International, Inc., a new edition known as the "BOCA National Building
<br />Code, Fourteenth Edition, 1999," has been published by said Building Officials and Code
<br />Administrators International, Inc.; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the approval on July 7, 1997 of Ordinance No. 6112 adopting the
<br />International Mechanical Code, 1996 Edition, as published by the International Code Council, a new
<br />code known as the "International Mechanical Code, 2000 Edition," has been published by the
<br />International Code Council, Inc., and is referenced in the BOCA National Building Code, Fourteenth
<br />Edition, 1999, for the control of construction, inspection and maintenance of all mechanical
<br />equipment and systems; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the approval on July 7, 1997 of Ordinance No. 6112 adopting the
<br />International Plumbing Code, 1995 Edition, as published by the International Code Council Inc., a
<br />new code known as the "International Plumbing Code, 2000 Edition," has been published by the
<br />International Code Council, Inc., and is referenced in the BOCA National Building Code, Fourteenth
<br />Edition, 1999, for the design and installation of plumbing systems; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council desires to adopt The BOCA National Building Code,
<br />Fourteenth Edition, 1999, as published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators
<br />International Inc., with certain amendments hereinafter set forth.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br />UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. Chapter 15.04 of the University City Municipal Code relating to the Building
<br />Code, is hereby repealed, and a new chapter, to be known as "Chapter 15.04 Building Code," is
<br />hereby enacted in lieu thereof, thereby repealing the BOCA National Building Code, Thirteenth
<br />Edition, 1996,and adopting the BOCA National Building Code, Fourteenth Edition, 1999, with
<br />certain amendments, so that said new Chapter 15.04, as so amended, shall read as follows:
