(CHAPTER 9 FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS) <br /> <br />(SECTION 904.0 FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM) <br /> <br />904.9 Use Group R-2: An automatic fire suppression system shall be provided throughout all <br />buildings with an occupancy in Use Group R-2, other than residential care facilities, in accordance <br />with Section 906.2.1 or 906.2.2 <br /> <br />Exception: Buildings which meet all of the following conditions: <br /> <br />Maximum of two stores, counting a basement as a story; <br />Maximum of 12 dwelling units per fire area; and <br />Each dwelling unit shall have at least one door opening to an exterior exit access that <br />leads directly to the exits required to serve that dwelling unit. <br /> <br />(SECTION 906.0 FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM) <br /> <br />906.10 Water flow tests: Water flow tests for fire sprinkler systems shall be conducted between the <br />hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. <br /> <br />906.10.1 Water flow safety factor: A safety factor shall be applied to all flow tests for the <br />sprinkler systems. A parallel curve shall be drawn to the actual flow test curve that has been <br />reduced by twenty percent (20%) of the static pressure. A sprinkler system design shall not <br />exceed the twenty percent (20%) curve. <br /> <br />(SECTION 920.0 SINGLE-AND MULTIPLE STATION SMOKE DETECTORS) <br /> <br />920.1.1 Existing buildings: Smoke detectors installed in an existing building where there is no <br />change in use and where the building is not being altered or substantially rehabilitated, shall not be <br />required to be interconnected and shall be permitted with either an AC primary power or a monitored <br />battery power source. <br /> <br />(SECTION 921.0 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS) <br /> <br />921.2 Where required: A portable fire extinguisher shall be installed in the following locations in <br />accordance with NFPA 70 listed in Chapter 35: <br /> <br />2. <br />3. <br />4. <br /> <br />In all buildings of Use Group A, B, E, F, H, M, I-1, I-2, R-1 or S. <br />In all areas containing commercial kitchen exhaust hood systems. <br />In all areas where fuel is dispensed. <br />In all areas where a flammable or combustible liquid is used in the operation of <br />spraying, coating, or dipping. <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br /> <br />
