August 2, 2002 Text Amendment Ordinance Page 5 of 21 <br />an established historic district or at an established historic landmark as set <br />forth in this chapter. The Commission may establish procedures to <br />facilitate the issuance of permits to demolish accessory structures. <br /> <br />34-72.4 Powers and Duties <br /> <br />The Historic Preservation Commission shall act in an advisory capacity but shall <br />not have administrative authority over decision making. The Commission shall <br />act in an advisory capacity to the Department of Planning and Development <br />Staff in carrying out enforcement activities required on City ordinances on <br />matters relating to the administration of this article and shall have the following <br />powers and duties: <br /> <br />To consider all applications to designate historic landmarks or districts <br />and to make recommendations concerning such applications to the City <br />Council and to prepare documentation supporting such recommendation; <br /> <br />To consider applications for building permits, including sign permits, for <br />historic landmarks or within an historic district, and to make <br />interpretations and recommendations concerning such applications to the <br />Department of Planning and Development Staff; <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />To consider and review proposed changes to buildings, structures, <br />humanly constructed objects, street furniture, city parks, civic areas, <br />public facilities or environmental features of an historic landmark or <br />within an historic district, reporting its recommendations to the <br />Department of Planning and Development Staff; <br /> <br />To consider applications for permission to demolish buildings, structures <br />or humanly constructed objects anywhere in the City, and to make <br />recommendations concerning such application to the Department of <br />Planning and Development Staff; <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />To consider applications for conditional use permits for an historic <br />landmark or within an historic district, and to make recommendations <br />concerning such requests to the Plan Commission; <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />To consider applications for the grant of variances to an historic <br />landmark or within an historic district, and to make recommendations <br />concerning such requests to the Board of Adjustment; <br /> <br />x-textamord08-02-02K:\WPOFFICE\Wpdata~x-textamord08-02-02.frm <br /> <br /> <br />
