BILL NO. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5.08 OF THE UNIVERSITY <br />CITY MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, <br />BY REPEALING SECTION 5.08.240 THEREOF, RELATING TO <br />HOURS OF SALE AND CLOSING-SALE ON SUNDAY, AND <br />ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS <br />"SECTION 5.08.240 HOURS OF SALE AND CLOSING-SALE ON <br />SUNDAY," THEREBY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO AS TO <br />PF:R-M4-T-R-~,g-T-~tz~ ~ AN; I:~_ _n~,=, T_G~__F~-I~_P. __4:N=T_tr3~__I,_.~__, _,,~,.j ,_..,4,j,_,~_ ,, ,_ <br />THE DRINK AT RETAIL FOR CONSUMPTION ON THE PREMISES <br /> <br />A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNWERSITY <br />CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 5.08 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to <br />alcoholic beverages, is hereby amended by repealing Section 5.08.240 thereof, relating to <br />hours of sale and closing-sale on Sunday, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be <br />known as "Section 5.08.240 Hours of sale and closing-Sale on Sunday", thereby <br />amending said section so as to permit restaurant bars to sell intoxicating liquor by the <br />drink at retail for consumption on the premises between nine a.m. and midnight on <br />Sunday; so that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: <br /> <br />5.08.240 Hours of Sale and closing- Sale on Sunday. <br /> <br />No person having a license under this article, nor any employee of such <br />person, shall sell, give away, or permit the consumption of, any <br />intoxicating liquor in any quantity between the hours of one-thirty a.m. <br />and six a.m. on weekdays and between the hours of one-thirty a.m. Sunday <br />and six a.m. Monday, on or about his or her premises. <br /> <br />If a person has a license to sell intoxicating liquor by the drink under this <br />article, the licensee's premises shall be and remain a closed place as <br />defined in this section between the hours of one-thirty a.m. and six a.m. on <br />weekdays and between the hours of one-thirty a.m. and six a.m. Monday. <br />Where such licenses authorizing the sale of intoxicating liquor by the <br />drink are held by clubs or hotels, this section shall apply only to the room <br />or rooms in which intoxicating liquor is dispensed; and where such <br />licenses are held by restaurants whose business is conducted in one room <br />only and substantial quantities of food and merchandise other than <br />intoxicating liquors are dispensed, then the licensee shall keep securely <br />locked during the hours and on days specified in this section all <br />refrigerators, cabinets, cases, boxes, and taps from which intoxicating <br />liquor is dispensed. <br /> <br /> <br />
