BILL NO. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.64 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO THE NONUNIFORMED EMPLOYEES <br />RETIREMENT SYSTEM, BY REPEALING SECTION 2.64.070 THEREOF, <br />RELATING TO CREDITABLE SERVICE, AND ENACTING IN LIEU <br />THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 2.64.070 <br />CREDITABLE SERVICE," THEREBY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO AS <br />TO PROVIDE A REVISED METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE CITY <br />MANAGER'S CREDITABLE SERVICE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 2.64 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to the non- <br />uniformed employees retirement system, is hereby amended by repealing Section 2.64.070 <br />thereof, relating to creditable service, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be known as <br />"Section 2.64.070 Creditable service;" so that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: <br /> <br />2.64.070 <br /> <br />Creditable service. <br /> <br />The years of creditable service of a member other than the city manager shall be <br />the number of years and completed months of service during which the member <br />received compensation prior to the operative date plus the number of years and <br />completed months of service during which the member received compensation <br />after the operative date from the beginning of his or her employment with the city <br />until his or her employment is terminated, subject to the provisions set forth in <br />subsections B through G of this section. The years of creditable service of the <br />city manager shall be the number of years and completed months of service <br />during which the city manager received compensation after June 30, 2001 until <br />his or her employment is terminated, plus for any city manager with at least 21 <br />(twen~:one) years of employment with the city the number of years and months <br />of service necessary for the city manager to have a total of 21 (twentY-one) years <br />of creditable service so as to be entitled to pension benefits pursuant to section <br />2.64.140, subject to the provisions of subsections B through G of this section. No <br />creditable service for prior employment shall be granted an employee who <br />becomes a member after July 1, 1966, unless the member .was employed on July <br />1, 1966. <br /> <br />If a member resumes.employment within one year after the member's employment is <br />terminated and provided the member has not withdrawn his or her accumulated <br />contributions,'the member's creditable service as of the date of tenrfination shall be <br />restored. <br /> <br />Bo <br /> <br />Creditable service to date of absence shall not be forfeited by reason of any absence <br />without pay due to leave granted by the city because o~ illness, military service or, for a <br />period not in excess of one year, for any other reason, provided the employee returns to <br />active service prior to the expiration of his or her leave. <br /> <br /> <br />
