<br />the base ofthe sign to the highest point ofthe sign or its support. Such signs shall be <br />displayed only on the premises which are for sale or lease, with only one such sign <br />permitted for each street frontage; and such signs shall be removed within seven days <br />following the removal of the property from the market. <br />b. Real estate open house signs and open house directional signs shall be permitted <br />only during open house hours and when the owner or a representative of the owner <br />is in attendance. Such directional signs may be located off-premises and within a <br />street right-of-way, subject to the requirements of Article 5, Section 34-65, <br />"Visibility at Intersection." Location of such signs in street rights-of-way not under <br />the control of the city shall be subject to the rules and regulations of the applicable <br />authority (e.g., Missouri Highway and Transportation Department, or 8t. Louis <br />County Department of Highways and Traffic). <br /> <br />2. Construction signs, provided only one such sign may be erected on each street <br />frontage for the duration of such construction activities. The sign shall not exceed ten <br />square feet in gross area for each ten thousand (10,000) square feet of lot area or <br />fraction thereof, not to exceed a total of one hundred (100) square feet. Such sign(s) <br />shall be located on the property in which the construction activity is taking place. <br /> <br />3. Official public notices and notices posted by a public authority in accordance with <br />public notice requirements as may be required by law, including city codes. <br /> <br />4. Governmental signs for the control or direction of traffic and other public <br />purposes, such as neighborhood watch program signs, historical markers and plaques, <br />or temporary emergency signs. <br /> <br />5. Temporary non-illuminated signs in connection with political campaigns, other <br />civic noncommercial campaigns, or other noncommercial messages subject to the <br />conditions stated below: <br /> <br />a. Number. The number of signs, described in paragraph 5, shall be limited to one <br />sign per candidate, civic campaign issue, or other noncommercial message for each <br />street frontage. <br />b. Height. In the "SR" single-family residential and "LR" limited residential <br />districts, the signs described in paragraph 5 shall be limited to ground-mounted <br />signs and shall not exceed a height of four feet. In all other districts wall-mounted <br />signs may not exceed a maximum height of twenty (20) feet and ground-mounted <br />signs may not exceed a height of three feet from the bottom ofthe sign to ground <br />level. <br />c. Area. The gross area of the signs, described in paragraph 5, shall not exceed five <br />square feet in area per sign for each ten thousand (10,000) feet oflot area, provided <br />any sign exceeding twenty (20) square feet in such area shall be set back a minimum <br />of twenty-five (25) feet from all street right-of-way lines. <br />d. Sign Display Time Limitations. In the case of signs associated with political and <br />other noncommercial civic campaigns, such signs may be displayed thirty (30) days <br />
