<br />310.2 Definitions: The following words and terms shall, for purposes of this section and as <br />used elsewhere in this code, have the meanings shown herein. <br /> <br />Group home: A one-family dwelling in which shelter is provided in a <br />supervised environment for four or more persons all of whom are capable of prompt <br />egress without supervision, guidance or assistance, and who share complete living <br />facilities that include permanent provisions for living, sleeping, eating, cooking and <br />sanitation. A group home serving ten or fewer individual persons shall be classified <br />as Group R-3, unless it serves more than five children 2 1Jz years of age or younger. <br /> <br />Dwellings: <br /> <br />Boarding House: A building arranged or used for lodging for compensation, <br />with or without meals, and not occupied as a single-family unit. <br /> <br />Dormitory: A space in a building where group sleeping accommodations are <br />provided in one room, or in a series of closely associated rooms, for persons <br />not members of the same family group. A group home serving more than ten <br />individual persons shall be classified as a dormitory. A dormitory facility shall <br />be classified as Group R-2, unless it serves more than five children 2 1Jz years <br />of age or younger. <br /> <br />Multiple-family dwelling: A building or portion thereof containing more <br />than two dwelling units and not meeting the requirements for a multiple <br />single-family dwelling. <br /> <br />Multiple single-family dwelling: A building or portion thereof containing <br />more than two dwelling units where each unit has an independent means of <br />egress and is separated from other dwelling units by a fIre separation assembly <br />or by a fire partition in accordance with the provisions of Section 310.5. <br /> <br />One-family dwelling: A building containing one dwelling unit. <br /> <br />Two-family dwelling: A building containing two dwelling units. <br /> <br />Dwelling unit: A single unit providing complete, independent living facilities for <br />one or more persons, including permanent provisions for living, sleeping, eating, cooking <br />and sanitation. <br /> <br />(CHAPTER 6 TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION) <br /> <br />10 <br />
