<br />5. Removal or change of any required means of egress, or rearrangement of parts of a
<br />structure affecting the egress requirements.
<br />6. Increase or decrease the number of dwelling units in a structure.
<br />7. Change of occupancy within the same use group, or change the use of all or part of a
<br />structure to another use group.
<br />8. Install dropped ceilings or otherwise create concealed spaces.
<br />9. Install bars or protective grills on windows or door openings.
<br />10. Accessory buildings, such as tool sheds, cabanas, "play houses", etc., more than 50
<br />square feet in area.
<br />11. Change in roof covering system.
<br />12. Install, add to, alter, replace or relocate any piping in the water supply, sewer,
<br />drainage, soil, waste, vent, standpipe, sprinkler system, or to install, add to, alter,
<br />replace or relocate any part of a fire protection, electrical, mechanical or plumbing
<br />system, or any other equipment which is regulated or required by this code; except as
<br />specifically permitted by an exception listed under Section 107.1 or by an exception
<br />contained in the International Mechanical Code, 2003 Edition, or in the International
<br />Plumbing Code, 2003 Edition, listed in Chapter 35.

<br />105.2 When permit is required: It shall be unlawful for any person to construct, alter,
<br />enlarge, repair, replace, move, remove, or demolish a structure, including accessory structure
<br />such as decks, fences or retaining walls, or to cause such work to be done, without first
<br />filling an application with the building official in writing and obtaining a permit therefor.

<br />Exceptions:
<br />
<br />1. Accessory buildings, such as tool sheds, cabanas, "play houses", etc., 50 square feet or
<br />less in area, provided such accessory buildings are not attached to other buildings and
<br />provided such accessory buildings maintain the setbacks required by the zoning code.
<br />2. Antennae, non-dish television or radio, 12 feet or less in height, attached to, or
<br />located on the roof of a building or mounted on the ground other than in the front
<br />yard area; or dish antennae not more than 2 feet in diameter.
<br />3. Awnings, fixed or retractable, that do not project over property lines and do not
<br />cover an area larger than 40 square feet.
<br />4. Cabinet or countertop replacement that does not increase the length of any
<br />countertop.
<br />5. Dishwasher, automatic; replacement provided the existing water supply connection is
<br />protected against backflow and existing waste connection discharges separately into
<br />an approved trap, trapped flXture, or the dishwasher connection of a food waste
<br />grinder.
<br />6. Doors, replacement or repair, with no change in opening size.
<br />7. Driveways or sidewalks within property lines.
