<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> (CHAPTER 3 USE AND OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION) <br /> <br /> (SECTION 310 RESIDENTIAL GROUP R) <br /> <br /> 310.2 Definitions. The following words and terms shall, for purposes of this section and as used <br /> elsewhere in this code, have the meanings shown herein. <br /> <br /> Abandoned hazard. Any facet of construction, including but not limited to, excavations, <br /> demolitions, construction, etc. in which a worker involved with that job is not on the premises. <br /> Boarding house. A building arranged or used for lodging for compensation, with or without <br /> meals, and not occupied as a single-family unit. <br /> <br /> Dormitory. A space in a building where group sleeping accommodations are provided in one <br /> room, or in a series of closely associated rooms, for persons not members of the same family <br /> group. A group home serving more than ten individual persons shall be classified as a dormitory. <br /> A dormitory facility shall be classified as Group R-2, unless it serves more than five children 2 <br /> 1/2 years of age or younger. <br /> <br /> Dwelling unit. A single unit providing complete, independent living facilities for one or more <br /> persons, including permanent provisions for living, sleeping, eating, cooking and sanitation. <br /> <br /> Dwelling. See Section 202. <br /> <br /> Excavation. Any removal of soil, fill, etc. for work pertaining to construction or similar activity <br /> that could constitute a hazard to the health, safety, or welfare of an individual or the public. <br /> <br /> Group home. A one-family dwelling in which shelter is provided in a supervised environment <br /> for four or more persons all of whom are capable of prompt egress without supervision, guidance <br /> or assistance, and who share complete living facilities that include permanent provisions for <br /> living, sleeping, eating, cooking and sanitation. A group home serving ten or fewer individual <br /> persons shall be classified as Group R-3, unless it serves more than five children 2 1/2 years of <br /> age or younger. <br /> <br /> Multiple-family dwelling. A building or portion thereof containing more than two dwelling <br /> units and not meeting the requirements for a multiple single-family dwelling. <br /> <br /> Multiple single-family dwelling. A building or portion thereof containing more than two <br /> dwelling units where each unit has an independent means of egress and is separated from other <br /> dwelling units by a fire separation assembly or by a fire partition in accordance with the <br /> provisions of Section 310.5. <br /> <br /> One-family dwelling. A building containing one dwelling unit. <br /> <br /> Temporary Excavation. An excavation for the burial or service of utilities to a premises that <br /> remains excavated for no longer than two days without being fully backfilled. <br /> <br /> <br /> 9 <br />
