created; consult with and obtain cooperation and coordinated effort on the part of all <br /> agencies, both private and public, which function in the field of human relations, schools, <br /> law enforcement agencies, welfare organizations; youth and other similar groups; utilize <br /> the resources of individuals and groups toward the improvement of inter-group relations; <br /> enlist potential community forces in an effort to make more secure and to extend <br /> democratic rights, opportunities and practices; influence and encourage community <br /> support for educational programs and, if appropriate, recommend to the Council <br /> legislation designed to: (a) combat those misconceptions, prejudices, and untruths which <br /> tend to set group against groups; (b) reduce tensions created by ignorance and bigotry and <br /> (c) eliminate discriminatory practices arising from prejudice. <br /> Section 4. Election of Chairman—Meetings—Records: The commission <br /> shall elect its chair from among its members and create and fill such other of its offices as <br /> it may determine. The term of the chairman shall be for one year and the chair shall be <br /> eligible for re-election. The Commission shall hold at least one regular meeting in each <br /> quarter. It shall adopt rules for the conduct of its meetings and transaction of business <br /> and shall keep a record of such resolutions, transactions, and finding and promptly inform <br /> the Council regarding all matters it has considered. The commission shall furnish the <br /> Council copies of the minutes of all meetings and during the month of January of each <br /> year the commission shall furnish the Council an annual report covering all of its actions <br /> during the previous calendar year. <br /> Section 5. The reduction in number of members of the Commission on <br /> Human Relations from nine to seven shall be by attrition. <br /> Section 6.
