<br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10.48, PARKING METERS, OF THE
<br /> UNIVERSITY CITY MUNICIPAL CODE BY REORGANIZING CERTAIN SECTIONS
<br /> THEREIN AND BY AMENDING SAID SECTIONS TO RECONSTITUTE THE CITY'S
<br /> PARKING ZONES, REVISING THE TIME LIMITATIONS PERTINENT TO SAID
<br /> ZONES, AND BY ADDING "PARKING PAY STATION" REGULATIONS.
<br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 10.48, Parking Meters, as published in the University City
<br /> Municipal Code, is not consistent with the City's ordinances governing parking meters,
<br /> specifically Ordinances No. 6815 and 6832, among others; and
<br /> r
<br /> WHEREAS, to correct this inconsistency, it is necessary and appropriate to
<br /> reorganize Sections 10.48.010, 10.48.020, 10.48.030, 10.48.040, 10.48.060, 10.48.070,
<br /> 10.48.130, and 10.48.140 of chapter 10.48 through this legislation and so effect the
<br /> recodification of said sections as provided herein; and
<br /> WHEREAS, City staff further recommends that these sections be updated and
<br /> amended as provided herein to designate the north side of "Loop South" as "Zone D"
<br /> paid parking and to clarify the City's parking regulations pertaining to "parking pay
<br /> stations";'
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br /> UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
<br /> Section 1. Sections 10.48.010, 10.48.020, 10.48.030, 10.48.040, 10.48.060, 10.48.070,
<br /> 10.48.130, and 10.48.140 of Chapter 10.48, "Parking Meters", of the University City
<br /> Municipal Code are hereby repealed, and new Sections 10.48.010, 10.48.020,
<br /> 10.48.030, 10.48.040, 10.48.060, 10.48.070, 10.48.130, and 10.48.140 are enacted in
<br /> lieu thereof, to read as follows:
<br /> 10.48.010 — Purpose and Applicability
<br /> A. It is declared to be necessary to establish a parking meter program:
<br /> to protect the public safety and welfare, to regulate the use of the streets
<br /> of the city by motor vehicles, to prevent the obstruction and unfair use of
<br /> the streets for private purposes, to ensure equal rights in the use of the s
<br /> i
<br /> ' Please note that the highlighted language in this ordinance reflects substantive
<br /> changes to existing regulations. Because of the extent of the reorganization of Chapter
<br /> 10.48, the non-substantive changes have not been delineated in the text of the
<br /> amendments.
