Please email your comments, concerns, questions and/or recommendations to
me by or before Thursday, July 31, 2014
so that everyone is aware of your comments.
Below is a compilation of all responses received as of August 6, 2014:
7.17.14
Hello,
I remember three years ago when I first saw the new logo, I liked it immediately. I saw it on a banner
and I saw it on a shirt. At that point I had lived in U City for thirty years. The logo reflected many of the
experiences and feelings I had toward the city. While in grade school my daughter had a best friend
from Malaysia whom we helped with her English. My son had a good friend from the Ukraine. I enjoy
seeing the variety of people and cultures within our city. I like seeing the elderly Russian couples who
walk in my neighborhood. I value that my neighbors come in many different colors, ethnicities and
religions. The University attracts students from around the globe that make there temporary home
within our City. We have grocery stores and restaurants that reflect the diversity in our community,
Jamaican, Indian, Chinese, Greek. etc. I feel this is one of the aspects that makes our community
unique. I feel that the logo implies that we are a welcoming community.
When the logo was dropped I wrote to the City Council and went to the City Council meeting and
spoke. I also felt that it was a waste of money. I believe that the cost of the development of the logo
was approximately $40,000. I still like the logo and would like to see it adopted by the City.
Sincerely,
Bonnie Tesson
