Ms. Porter stated that she is the secretary of Citizens for Restoring Transparency and wished to express her <br />dissatisfaction with the division and unsafe environment created by the Mayor’s response to the comments <br />and actions of Councilmembers Jennings and Kraft. Ms. Porter requested that her written comments be <br />attached to the minutes. <br /> <br />Jan Adams, 7150 Cambridge Avenue, University City, MO <br />Ms. Adams spoke on Councilmember Crows negative comments. She noted the only attacks on Dr. Carr <br />were the direct consequence of the lies told both in chambers and videos, posted on social media by <br />th <br />Councilmembers Crow and Carr. She stated that on August 11 she proposed a resolution that prohibits <br />outright lies by members of Council while performing their public duties and would like to renew that request <br />this evening. <br /> Ms. Adams expressed concern for the reason why the demand to have Ms. Hummels written statement <br />attached to the minutes. Ms. Adams urged Council to call a truce, focus on governing and leave the political <br />vindictiveness outside the doors of these chambers. Ms. Adams stated that she would submit comments to <br />be attached to the minutes. <br /> <br />O. <br />COUNCIL REPORTS/BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Boards and Commission appointments needed <br />Mayor Welsch read the appointments that were needed. <br />Dr. Carr noted the corrections that were needed. <br />Mayor Welsch stated that staff would send out the corrected list of appointments. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Council liaison reports on Boards and Commissions <br />Mr. Glickert stated that he participated in the Plan Commission meeting last Wednesday and while his <br />opinion is that both staff and Ameren UE did a good job with respect to the Conditional Use Permit <br />discussion, there were some concerns raised about the public hearing for this particular CUP being <br />held at 5 p.m. Residents concluded that the hearing might have been more effective if it had been <br />held a little bit later. Mr. Glickert moved that future CUP public hearings commence at 6 p.m. and <br />was seconded by Mr. Jennings. <br /> <br />Dr. Carr stated that since this item was not placed on the agenda and asked that the vote be <br />postponed until the next meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow stated that he was more than happy to change the time, but believed that Council should <br />provide staff with an opportunity to weigh-in prior to making a change since it could impact them as <br />well. <br /> <br />Mr. Walker concurred with the suggestion of Councilmember Crow. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert rescinded his motion and agreed to postpone the vote until the next meeting. <br /> <br />Dr. Carr stated that she is the liaison for the Urban Forestry Commission and would like to ask Mr. <br />Sharpe if he was aware of the circumstances surrounding an appeal and reversal of the Urban <br />Forestry Commission’s decision regarding a tree located at 7100 Willow Tree Lane? Mr. Sharpe <br />stated that two of his long-time constituents had approached him regarding the issues they had been <br />having as result of this tree. He stated that he felt very strongly in favor of the tree’s removal and <br />made a personal request that the tree be removed. Mr. Sharpe stated that once the tree is removed <br />it will be replaced by another tree, so the City will not be losing a tree, just replacing the older tree <br />with a smaller one. <br /> Dr. Carr stated it is a little problematic when the code states that the Urban Forestry <br />Commission is the final decision-maker and then, several days later the code is changed. She stated <br />that these types of complaints happen frequently, but since there is a process that all of this has to go <br />through. <br /> Mr. Sharpe asked Dr. Carr what was more important, people or trees? He stated that he loved <br /> <br />trees, but people were more important to him than trees. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br /> <br />
