Session 1801
January 22, 2001

The county wide use tax is basically for out of state purchases in excess of $2000,
where sales tax had not previously been collected. This is a way of recovering some of
those losses. It will be a great benefit for University City and definitely will eliminate the
City from having to raise other taxes.

Mr. Wagner wished to emphasize that it does not kick in until after $2,000 has been
purchased. Most small catalog purchases we all make, out of state, will not be
affected.

Mr. Wagner moved approval. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion, which carried
unanimously.

CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS:

AGENDA #1 - RESUBDIVISION OF 7320-30 FORSYTH:

Mr. Ollendorff agrees with the Plan Commission recommendation that City Council
should approve the resubdivision of lots on the north side of Forsyth in conformance
with the site plan approved by City Council last October. This consolidates four lots into
one lot. The developer plans to construct a three-story building offering twelve
condominium apartment units.

Mr. Munkel moved approval of the consent calendar. Mr. Wagner seconded the
motion, which carried unanimously.

CITY CLERK'S DOCKET:

SECOND AND THIRD READINGS:

BILL NO. 8503 - VACATING AND SURRENDERING TWO PORTIONS OF THE
RIGHT-OF-WAY OF HARRISON AVENUE BETWEEN HAWTHORNE PLACE
AND WAYNE AVENUE IN BELLMONT PLACE SUBDIVISION AND
HAWTHORNE TERRACE SUBDIVISION, BUT RESERVING ANY PUBLIC
UTILITY EASEMENTS, AND DIRECTING THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE
RECORDED IN THE OFFICE OF THE RECORDER OF DEEDS.

This bill had second and third readings on December 18, 2000.

Ms. Colquirt moved approval. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion.

2
