Mayor Mooney presented park passes to the students~ OATHS OF OFFICE Mr. Dennis Lubeck, Mr. Tyrone Hudson and Mr. Carl Seltzer, all of whom had been re- appointed as members of the Commission on Human Relations, were sworn in by the City Clerk. Mayor Mooney noted chat the City depends heavily on the members of the boards and coremissions who give so unselfishly of their time to promote the City's welfare. OATHS OF OFFICE - FIRE DEPARTMENT Mayor Mooney said there was a recent reorganization of the Fire Department, and the new position of battalion chief had been established. Four men in the department are to have this position, and the ~yor asked them and their wives to come forward. They are Mr. Fred Mallon, Mr. Bob Metcalf, Mr. James James and Mr, James Shanahan, and they were sworn in by the City Clerk. There was a round of applause as their wives pinned on their new badges, Mayor Mooney said the City appreciates everything these men have done for the Fire Department. HONOR FOR CHIEF DAMOS ~yor Moohey noted that Chie~ of Police James Damos was recently elected first vice- president of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, which meant that he will be that group's president next year. The Mayor ~oted that this is a very grear honor. CITY F~NAGER'S REPORTS LIQUOR LICENSE APPLICATION - 7384 FORSYTH The City Manager said an application for a license to sell intoxicating liquor by the drink at Bilbo's, 7384 Forsyth Blvd., has been reviewed and found to meet all the City ordinance requirements. He recommended that a public hearing be set for the next council meeting, at which time there will also be a review of a site plan for a conditional use permit to operate as a restaurant. Notices are to be sent as required. Mrs. Metcalfe moved that a public hearing be set for October 6, 1980, at 8:00 P.M. Mrs. Thompson seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. LIQUOR LICENSE APPLICATION - 8369 OLIVE The City Manager recommended setting a public hearing to consider an application re- ceived from Chu's China Gate Restaurant, 8369 Olive Boulevard, to continue the pres- ent type of licensing for liquor by the drink. This was necessitated because of a change of ownership. All code requirements have been met. Mrs. Metcalfe moved that a public hearing be set for October 6, 1980, at 8:30 P.M. Mr. Sabol seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
